Sawyer’s anger subsided as he met Wilfred’s gaze, narrowing his eyes slightly. “That depends on your sincerity.” Seeing this, Scarlett turned pale. “Wilfred knows nothing about my plan. He had no idea. Please, spare him this time.”
Sawyer reached for Wilfred’s hand, but Wilfred withdrew it.
Wilfred then said meaningfully, “Let’s have a drink tonight.”
All of Sawyer’s rage dissipated, and he smiled. “Alright, I’ll be waiting.”
With that, Sawyer let Scarlett go and left with his men.
Scarlett struggled to her feet, despite her body being covered in whip marks. She endured the pain and, with urgency in her voice, said, “You’re insane! Don’t you know he’s a pervert? Going there is a death sentence!”
Now, it was just the two of them.
Wilfred’s gaze shifted to Scarlett, and he used a disinfecting wipe to clean the hand that had touched Sawyer’s face. A flicker of disgust appeared in his eyes.
He despised it, but there was no escape.
“Don’t worry,” Wilfred said calmly.
Scarlett insisted, “Didn’t you say you’re going to him tonight? How can I not worry? Do you think you’ll come out of there unscathed?”
Wilfred looked at Scarlett and asked, “Are you living a good life now?”
Scarlett turned her head away, her expression stubborn. “I’m fine. You don’t need to worry. It’s a hundred times better than you going to him!”
They were born in darkness and destined to fall into it.
But they could not surrender or lose their dignity.
Wilfred’s eyes remained calm, having grown indifferent to everything. He habitually touched the string of beads in his pocket and said, “These days will end soon.”
Scarlett turned back to look at him, noticing the sinister smile on his lips. It unsettled her. “What are you planning?”
Wilfred took out his usual scalpel and carefully wiped it.

“Let’s get something to eat,” Yvonne said to Nina. “Even if you don’t eat, your baby needs to eat.”
Nash had not woken up, and it was not good for Nina to keep wearing herself out.
Nina touched her belly and decided to follow Yvonne’s advice. She was not alone anymore. “Alright.”
Nina and Yvonne left the hospital to buy some food and toiletries.
Yvonne wanted a drink, so they went to a fruit tea shop.
After a long wait, Yvonne finally got their order and handed Nina a cup. “Here you go.”
Nina reached out, but the fruit tea slipped from her hand.
Fortunately, Yvonne caught it quickly before it hit the ground.
“Nina, are you alright?” Yvonne asked, concerned. “Are you too tired?”
Nina felt strange. She had intended to catch it, but it slipped away. Maybe it was the lingering effects of the injection.
Yvonne placed the fruit tea securely in Nina’s hand. “Hold it tight, don’t drop it!”
Nina held it firmly. “Okay.”
“I’m going to pick out a few more cakes. Wait here for a bit,” Yvonne said.
“Okay,” Nina agreed, finding a seat by the window.
She gazed out, feeling restless, thinking about the red-haired woman and the things she had said.
She was sure she had met both the red-haired woman and Wilfred before, but she could not remember when.
Suddenly, she noticed a tall figure standing across from her, a pair of brown eyes fixed on her.
Nina stood up immediately.
“Wilfred.”
She murmured his name and quickly went after him.
