The two walked past Nina without looking back. As they passed, Miranda bumped Nina’s shoulder with a smirk.
Nina stumbled back a step, and Eve caught her, looking at their retreating figures. “How can they be so cruel? That witch must have said something to make Nash misunderstand. Eve was frantic. “Are you just going to let this go? If I knew this would happen, I wouldn’t have ask you to come out today.”
Nina looked at her with her smile more painful than crying. “Does it matter? This day was bound to come. It’s better to get it over with quickly.”
Nina did not want to be seen as a pathetic victim. She wanted to leave, feeling utterly humiliated that she had fallen for Nash twice.
“Nina,” Eve said, supporting her, noticing how unsteady she was. “Maybe you should rest a bit.”
Nina was heartbroken and furious, feeling dizzy. “No need,” she said, her face pale. “Call the car. We’re going home…”
Home. Nina felt lost at the word. That was Nash’s place, and going back would only mean getting kicked out again.
“Okay, I’ll call it right away,” Eve said, very concerned about Nina’s condition, thinking going home was best.
“No, we’re not going back,” Nina said, leaning against a pillar for support.
“But you haven’t divorced Nash yet. That’s still your home. Even if you do divorce, there are assets to divide. You’ll get something. Why should you let that witch take your home?” Eve was indignant, refusing to let the mistress win.

But Nina was not afraid anymore. She had endured the toughest times. Surely, she could get through this too.
She realized her initial fears were justified.
Nash did not care about her or their child at all.
