Nina picked up the divorce agreement, flipping through it to confirm Nash’s signature. She felt ridiculous, still needing to verify its authenticity even with Nash right in front of her.
Everything felt surreal, like a dream.
Nina, now calmer, accepted the reality and did not want to fight anymore. She just asked, “Why after the proposal? Why not divorce me before? What were you waiting for? Is now the right time?”
She suspected Nash’s motives. Before, it was about shares. Now that those were transferred, did she have no value? That was the only way she could think of it.
After a while, Nash’s eyes grew colder. He looked at Nina like an emotionless machine and said cruelly, “Nina, you guessed right. You have no value now. Don’t overestimate a man’s feelings. “The child is yours!” Nina insisted. “The baby inside me is yours…”
“Nina,” Nash interrupted her, “I never touched you.”
Nina stared into his cold eyes as he said, “We’re getting divorced, so don’t use the child to bind me. I told you to abort it, but you didn’t. If you had, I might have reconsidered the marriage. But you refused, using the child as an excuse. I don’t want to see this drama anymore. As for the baby, if Scott wants to be the fool, let him…”
