Chapter 638
After half an hour, the office door finally opened. As soon as the door cracked open, Nelly sensed there were people inside.
“Chief, I must treat you to a meal sometime,” Miranda said, her face beaming with a smile. “Your advice today was invaluable. I really must thank you.” She never missed an opportunity to get close to influential people.
“Of course, if it’s a meal with Nash around, I’ll certainly be there!” the broadcasting bureau chief replied, indicating his willingness to accommodate Nash.
Nash shook hands with the chief and said softly, “Miranda is one of my artists. She’ll be invaluable in many projects moving forward.”
The chief chuckled and teased, “Is she an artist or your girlfriend? Nash, at this point, there’s no need to hide things from me. I understand why you’d get involved personally.” Miranda blushed slightly but maintained her composure. “Chief, you have a keen eye. When Nash and I get married, you must come!”
She clung to Nash’s arm as she spoke.
“Absolutely,” the director affirmed.
As they walked out, besides Miranda and Nash, the director of “Demon Bone” was also present.
“Chief, Miranda is very dedicated. She’s a promising talent in acting with a bright future!” the director of “Demon Bone” praised enthusiastically.
The chief smiled, “I’ve noticed. She has a good mix of talent and luck.”
This lively exchange contrasted sharply with the half-hour wait for Nina and Nelly, making them feel somewhat overlooked.
Despite this, Nelly knew she had to seize the moment. “Chief!” she called out.
The chief turned and recognized Nelly. “Nelly, have you been waiting long?” he greeted warmly.
Nelly cut to the chase. “I just want to ask why our drama can’t get a prime-time slot. Can’t we get a chance?”
The chief looked slightly uncomfortable but did not respond immediately.
Nina stepped forward with a warm smile. “Chief, it’s been a while. You look younger every time I see you!”
The chief, who appeared much younger than his sixty-plus years, smiled at the compliment. “Nina, you’re still as sweet-talking as ever. You must have picked that up from Nash.”
It was clear he wanted to avoid the topic, but Nina pressed on. “I’ve learned a thing or two from Mr. York over the years, but I’m not with his company anymore. Now, Nelly and I are partners.” This surprised the chief. “You and Nelly are partners now?”
He then glanced at Nash, smiling. “What a coincidence! You two come from different fields, yet you still ended up working together!”
Nina continued, “We’d really like to understand why our drama can’t get a prime-time slot. The phone call was a bit vague, and we’re hoping for a clearer answer.”
The chief, seeing the entire team present, did not want to cause friction. “It’s about the theme. We can discuss the details inside.”
As he said this, the director of “Demon Bone” interjected, “A dark, female-led drama like that is bound to be rejected for prime-time. Nash was right to point out the excessive violence and bloodshed.” Hearing this, Nina could not help but look at Nash.
His expression remained indifferent and distant, but the fact that he had criticized their drama was something she had not expected at all.
