“Miranda!”
Her assistant finally arrived, holding an umbrella to shield her from the sun. But Miranda’s dress was already dirty.
“Nina has no manners at all. Let me help you clean it,” the assistant quickly knelt down, pulling out tissues to wipe the dress.
Miranda glared in the direction Nina had left, her eyes wide with hatred. How dare she act so arrogantly when she was so sick! She would beg for mercy when her illness got worse. Miranda took a deep breath, trying to maintain her composure. “Let’s go wait at Nash’s villa.”
From the rearview mirror, Penelope saw Miranda’s furious expression and could not help but smirk. “Give her an inch, and she’ll take a mile. She’s spoiled.”
Nina did not care about Miranda. Honestly, she did not even want to acknowledge her existence. It was Miranda who kept pushing, always trying to harm her. “The weather is nice today. How about we set up a tent and go camping?” Nina suggested, noticing the bright sun.
“I think that’s a great idea. Let’s call everyone and see if they want to join us,” Penelope replied eagerly.
Nina took out her phone, intending to call their friends to join their camping trip tonight.
Just then, Wilfred’s call came through on Nina’s phone.
“Hello?” Nina answered quickly.
Wilfred’s voice was tense. “Don’t come any closer!”
The sound of a horn blaring drowned out his words.
Nina looked ahead. There were no cars in sight. “Wilfred, what did you say?”
“Don’t come any closer…” His voice trailed off.
Nina’s expression changed as she sensed something was wrong. “Penelope, stop the car!”
Before she could finish her sentence, a loud explosion erupted behind them, cutting off the road. The sound was followed by terrified screams.
The massive blast sent the cars behind them flying several meters away.
Their car was also affected, shaking violently to the point where Penelope could not hold onto the steering wheel. She tried her best to keep the car steady, but the impact made it sway uncontrollably.
Then, with a sudden brake, the car skidded out of control. The explosion shattered the windows, showcasing its immense power.
Penelope and Nina were momentarily knocked unconscious by the force. Penelope’s head was wounded by the shattered glass, blood flowing down her face.
Suddenly, several people appeared, dragging the unconscious Nina out of the car.
Penelope, dazed and with blurred vision, saw nothing but dust around her. She barely noticed the chaos outside, only seeing Nina being taken away.
“Nina!” She tried to reach for her, but Nina was already too far. Unable to withstand the shock, Penelope fainted again.
The scene was utter chaos. Some cars were blown to pieces, and the attack left people fleeing in terror. The road ahead was completely destroyed. There were dead and injured everywhere, the aftermath was devastating. Meanwhile, Miranda was still on her way to Nash’s villa when she noticed something was wrong.
“This isn’t the way to Nash’s house. Where are you going…” Miranda started to complain to the driver, but before she could finish, the car came to a sudden stop. “Ah-”
Miranda lost her balance and fell to the ground.
“Miranda.” The assistant rushed to help her up but was knocked out cold.
Miranda lay on the ground, her leg scraped and bleeding. She noticed the assistant unconscious on top of her. Realizing something was amiss, she looked up to see the driver had been replaced. Her eyes widened in fear. “Who are you?”
