Chapter 716
She was shocked, and then panic set in. Now she had nothing left and her only hope was Nash. If he gave up on her too, she would truly be at rock bottom with little chance of ever recovering.
“Nash,” Miranda instantly began to cry. Ignoring the pain, she crawled toward him again. “I was wrong. I know I was wrong. Please don’t do this.”
As she crawled, Nash looked at her as one might look at a dog. He lowered his head but maintained a superior posture, a cold smile playing on his lips. His fingers gripped her chin. “Wrong? Do you know what you did wrong?” This question left Miranda stunned. What had she done wrong?
She didn’t think she was wrong at all. She needed to submit to Nash to survive in this cruel world. “Whatever you say I did wrong, I was wrong. I’ll never do it again. Please forgive me this once.”
Tears fell from her eyes, making her look pitiful. She hoped Nash would show her some mercy.
Nash shoved her away with disgust, causing her head to tilt. He then took a disinfected towel and wiped his hands. “Miranda, you can bow and scrape to survive, but I don’t see any real remorse in you.” Miranda scrambled up, asking, “What do you want from me?”
Nash stared at her coldly. “When you poisoned Nina, did you ever think about this day?”
Miranda’s lips trembled. “I told you before, as long as you marry me, she’ll get the antidote.”
Nash’s eyes grew even colder, and the veins on his forehead bulged. Furious, he grabbed her by the throat. “Where’s the antidote? Do you have it? Say it again, do you have the antidote?”
He had suspected from the start that Miranda might not have the antidote. He had only played along to get close enough to find it. But it was even harder than he had imagined. The antidote was experimental and not very effective. Miranda’s throat tightened. Seeing Nash’s rage, she was terrified and began to tremble. She struggled to speak, “Everything I did was because I love you…”
Nash tightened his grip further.
He was truly disgusted by her words. Every sentence began with her love for him, which he found repulsive.
Miranda felt herself suffocating, her face turning a bluish-purple. She thought she was going to die in his hands. She pounded on Nash’s hand, desperate to survive.
Just as she was about to pass out from lack of oxygen, Nash released her. She gasped for air, coughing violently as she collapsed to the floor, utterly drained of strength. “Letting you die like this is too easy,” Nash said coldly. “You deserve to live a life worse than death.”
Hearing this, Miranda struggled to lift her head, still gasping for breath. “What do you want to do?”
Nash continued to smile, a sinister look in his eyes. “Did you really think you were free after getting out of prison?”
Miranda’s face went pale. The current Nash terrified her. “You’re going to lock me up? You think prison is too lenient? You want to torture me?”
She began to back away, realizing the true horror of her situation. She had thought getting out of prison was due to Nash’s pity and his unwillingness to see her suffer. In reality, he had been waiting for this moment.
