Nash ended the call, clutching his phone with a mix of hesitation and determination before dialing Nina’s number. However, due to the ongoing movement of the vehicle Nina was in, there was no signal.
When Nash tried calling, he was met with an automated message, “The number you have dialed is not in service. Please try again later…”
The area was a war zone, chaotic and dangerous. A single misstep could result in being caught in the crossfire. How could Nina dare to venture here?
“Captain, don’t worry. I’ll notify our contacts to find her. As soon as we have any information, we’ll inform you immediately. You need to rest now. Otherwise, we can’t coordinate with others, and the mission will be compromised,” James, standing by Nash, overheard the call and saw Nash’s worried expression.
Nash was always composed, except when it came to Nina. James had seen him anxious only a few times, all involving Nina. Nash truly cared about her.
“We must act quickly,” Nash insisted, wanting to search for Nina himself, but he was bound by his current responsibilities, waiting to meet with his superiors. He had to prioritize national duties first.

Nina’s reason for coming to Yaren was undoubtedly related to Scott and him. She didn’t know that his presence here was for both personal and official matters. The vast expanse of Yaren meant he wouldn’t rest easy until Nina was found.
“I’ll go look for her. Captain, you need someone to stay with you,” James volunteered.
Felix agreed, “Yes, Captain. Ma’am is smart. She wouldn’t come here alone without a plan.”
Despite Nina having Scarlett by her side, this was a war zone, and even ten Scarletts might not be enough protection.
Nash’s expression turned stern. “Keep in constant contact with Nina. If I can’t reach her, you must.”
“Understood, Captain. You rest now. I’ll call you when our contact arrives,” James tried to coax Nash into resting.
But Nash was too worried about Nina to sleep. His mind was entirely occupied with thoughts of her.
Seeing no other choice, James knocked Nash out gently to force him to rest.
Meanwhile, Nina’s vehicle headed towards Yaren. Initially, they passed tall buildings and some signs of life, but soon they found themselves in a vast, desolate desert, with no signal and no people.
Nina clutched her gun tightly, worried that any slight mishap could doom them all.
Suddenly, the car made a screeching sound and came to a halt.
“Miss Nina, the car has broken down. The driver needs to get out and check,” July translated.
