Nina realized she was being treated like a slave. No wonder the compound was so large, and the people inside were so scared and silent. They had been beaten into submission. There was no way out for them.

This confirmed it. This was indeed Pharaoh’s territory. Nina had gambled and won, but she knew she was treading on dangerous ground. Coming here meant risking her life, and she wasn’t sure if she could get out alive.
For now, she had control over Mrs. Quintana, but she couldn’t stay like this forever. She needed a plan to deal with them.
“Mrs. Quintana, this sister was kind enough to help me. If you want to punish someone, punish me. Please don’t make things difficult for her.” The young girl suddenly knelt on the ground, begging Mrs. Quintana. She was grateful to Nina for stepping in and worried about what Mrs. Quintana might do to her.
Nina, aware of Mrs. Quintana’s methods, knew she wouldn’t let this go easily. “Mrs. Quintana, I’m not one of the slaves here. I was brought by a man named Wes. You must know Ivy, right?”

Mrs. Quintana hesitated. “If that’s the case, I’ll have someone check. I’m just a supervisor here. Not only can you not leave, but neither can I. Even if you hold me hostage, it won’t help you.”
Nina had considered this. She was only safe for now and knew that didn’t guarantee her future safety. “Alright,” she replied. Mrs. Quintana signaled someone to go and verify the story. Several strong men moved in and restrained Nina. She didn’t fight them, knowing it was futile.
Nina looked at Mrs. Quintana. “Didn’t we have an agreement?”
Mrs. Quintana touched her injured face and neck, furious. “You think you can come here and leave unscathed? The young miss ordered to keep you alive, but that doesn’t mean you’ll have an easy time. You wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for that.”
With a vicious smile, Mrs. Quintana held the whip menacingly, clearly intending to make Nina suffer.
“Mrs. Quintana, please don’t. Punish me instead. I’ll take her place,” the young girl pleaded, clutching at Mrs. Quintana’s pants. Mrs. Quintana kicked her away. “Who do you think you are? You have no say here.”
The girl was tossed aside like trash, nearly unconscious. Nina’s expression darkened as she watched.
Mrs. Quintana approached Nina arrogantly. “You stubborn girl, today I’ll show you what happens to those who defy me. I’ll whip you until you’re skin and bones. Let everyone see what happens when you cross me!”
She raised the barbed whip, lifting it high. One strike would tear flesh. Nina clenched her fists, fear creeping in, and turned her head, bracing for the blow.
Then, a gunshot rang out. A bullet whizzed through the air and shattered the whip in Mrs. Quintana’s hand.
