The Pharaoh’s eyes were slightly red. Ever since discovering that Nina was Ivy, he had stopped wearing his mask. Ilis expression was not good at the moment.
Micah could try to persuade Nina on the Pharaoh’s behalf, but he could not empathize with some of the Pharaoh’s actions.
Micah coldly retorted, “If you don’t trust my words, then make your own arrangements.”
With that, Micah turned and left the council chamber without looking back.
In the presidential palace of Salterra, the man who the president had ordered to be saved had regained consciousness. His face was injured and wrapped in white bandages, making him look like a muminy.
The president frowned at the man lying motionless on the bed. “Are you trying to defy me?”
If he had not kept people around him constantly, this man would not even have the chance to lie here and move his eyes.
“No,” the man croaked, his voice hoarse from lack of use.
The president smirked. “If that’s true, you wouldn’t be acting this way. Take your time recovering. Your injuries are severe. If you want to keep your life and see the person you wish to see, you’d better listen to me.”
The man did not respond immediately. After a few seconds, he slowly murmured, “Alright.”
He gazed out the window at the bright, full moon. Tomorrow would be Thanksgiving, a time for family reunions. But for him…
In Birkham, Nina was awakened by a phone call early in the morning. It was from her father, Zion. Although her true identity had been exposed and the Pharaoh was her biological father, the gratitude for being raised was immeasurable. To her, her real parents would always be Zion and Julia.
When she answered, she heard Zion’s cautious and slightly hoarse voice. “Nina, are you back home now?”
When she had decided to go to the Yaren tribe, she had sent them a message saying she was going abroad for a while. After everything that happened in the Yaren tribe, she had not contacted them. Now, with her father calling, Nina could not pretend nothing had happened.
“I came back yesterday,” she said hoarsely.
Zion asked, “You must have a lot to take care of today. Nina, come over for dinner tonight. If it’s not convenient, your mother and I can come to you.”
“I have time. I’ll come over,” Nina replied.
She could not bear to let them come to her. Though she was not their biological daughter, they had treated her better than any biological parents would.
Now, she needed to deal with matters at York Corporation. Quincy was already knocking on her door. “Miss Nina, are you up? Mrs. Sally has rallied the shareholders and executives. They’re causing trouble in the company meeting room, demanding you return all the shares. We need to go to the company.”
Nina’s expression darkened. She had not expected Sally to act so quickly. She could not wait even for a moment. However, Nina decided to be strategic. “If they want to cause a scene, let them. We’ll let them wait a bit. For now, let’s continue with our tasks.
“And make sure you have the original documents of everything Nash transferred to me ready,” she added.
“Yes, ma’am.”
Since Nina had made arrangements, Quincy did not argue further. However, those impatient ones would not give Nina the chance to act on her plans.
