All signs indicated that this was an accident, not a premeditated act.
Nina replied, “I understand. Let’s leave today.”
She did not have much to pack, just a small backpack for Orion’s two sets of clothes. However, she made it clear to Micah, “I still have some unfinished business. I’ll go with you to the Yaren tribe, but I can only stay for three days at most.” Three days did not include today’s travel time. It was indeed a short period.
But the fact that Nina agreed to go to the Yaren tribe was already a significant step.

Orion silently followed Nina, not making any noise or fuss. Micah noticed. From the side, the child bore a slight resemblance to Nina.
However, he knew all too well that Nina and Nash’s child had died five years ago. Even if the child had not died, there was no way Nina would not have found a trace after searching for five years. Moreover, there had been no news about Nash either. The child’s resemblance was merely a coincidence.
“Bang!” A loud explosion echoed.
“Not good, Mr. Micah, we’ve been ambushed!” said Mr. Joker.
Micah sternly ordered, “Give the command, everyone get into position.”
Nina saw a hint of ferocity in Micah’s eyes. He held a gun in his hand.
They got out of the car to fight, while Nina and Orion stayed inside. In this chaotic environment, Nina feared Orion would be frightened and held him protectively. Yet, he remained still and unafraid.
The gunfire outside was deafening. Nina did not know if they would survive this encounter. For now, all she could do was stay in the car and avoid causing any trouble for Micah.
After what felt like an eternity, the gunfire ceased. Silence fell around them. Worried, Nina instructed Orion, “Stay under the seat and don’t get out. I’m going to check.”
Concerned for Micah and Mr. Joker, she feared for their safety. Though she did not acknowledge Pharaoh, Micah had always been kind to her, considering her needs for the past five years. This time, Micah had come to protect her. Their blood ties could never be severed. But as she stepped out of the car, she saw Micah and Mr. Joker standing a short distance away, facing a tall man wearing a silver mask.
The man, standing about six-foot-three, shone brightly under the sun’s rays. His presence felt eerily familiar to Nina.
Her breath caught in her throat as the man’s figure overlapped with Nash’s in her mind.
She heard someone respectfully address him, “Sir, all personnel are unharmed. The President is urging us to return.”
“In the future, we may have opportunities to collaborate,” said the silver-masked man before turning to leave.
His voice was hoarse and deep, as if his throat had been damaged. It was not Nash’s voice.
Nina felt a pang in her throat, and her eyes stung. If it were Nash, he would have approached her, especially after helping out in the fight. Clenching her fists, she steadied her emotions.
When Micah turned and saw her, his expression became serious. “Didn’t I tell you to stay in the car? Do you have a gun for self-defense?” Nina nodded.
But Micah’s tone remained stern, “You must not do this again. It’s very dangerous here, you know that? I can’t allow anything to happen to you!”
