These were the voices of Dominic’s closest advisors.
Dominic stared at Nash, his expression cold and calculating. Nash, however, remained resolute, convinced that his actions were the only way to resolve the situation.
“Don’t forget, your roots are here! If it weren’t for me, you would have been buried in a cold, icy river long ago! Nash…”
“Of course, I haven’t forgotten. But don’t you forget that I was once a military captain of Birkham. If you want Birkham’s military to attack Salterra, then go ahead and keep us here. My wife and son are under your control. This already constitutes harm and illegal detention!”
Nash spoke without hesitation, showing no fear.
A fierce, icy look flashed in Dominic’s eyes.
The others began to urge Dominic, “Mr. President, Salterra has already made many enemies. Birkham is our ally. If Birkham joins the war against us, with our current strength, we’d be nothing more than lambs to the slaughter!”

When Nash returned to Nina with Orion in his arms, she immediately rushed forward. “Did you get the antidote? How is Orion doing?”
She had seen other children, happy and healthy. But her child had grown up in a war zone and was also suffering physically. Nina’s self-blame deepened. Nash had intended to tell her a reassuring lie, but seeing the worry in her eyes, he could not bring himself to do it.

Hearing this, Nina felt as if a bolt of lightning had struck her. She staggered, but Wilfred quickly caught her before she could fall. Seeing Nina like this pained Nash deeply.
He had wanted to keep the truth from her, but he knew Nina would not want that. Therefore, he told her everything.
Nina made a decision. She said, “If your father’s condition is that you must stay here, then I’m willing.”
Being apart did not matter to her, as long as Nash and Orion were safe. Seeing her child suffer and Nash in such anguish was unbearable.
Nash’s throat tightened, and he pulled Nina into a firm embrace. “No. Don’t make that decision. This is my fault. I didn’t take care of you both or protect you. I will spend the rest of my life making up for it. I can’t lose you. Orion and I need you.”
