Nash held a high place in Nina’s heart, and with his willingness to help, it was only a matter of time before their family would be reunited. However, Pharaoh also made a promise to Nash.
“Rest assured, I genuinely want to make amends with Nina. And I truly want my grandson to survive.”
In other words, Pharaoh did not need Nash’s help to ensure that Orion received proper treatment.
“I understand,” Nash replied slowly, those few words carrying all the meaning needed.
However, Nash and Orion were not a successful bone marrow match.
As for Nina…
Nash said, “Nina is sharp-minded. We can’t bring her in for testing.”
If Nina found out, it would be devastating for her. From her perspective, she had just found her child and had barely reunited with him. To then learn that he was gravely ill with multiple conditions would be unbearable. “No one could handle that,” Nash added.
Pharaoh nodded. “I’ll arrange for the child to be tested against our people. We have plenty to choose from.”
If they could not find a match among a hundred people, then they would search among a thousand, ten thousand, or even more. Eventually, they would find someone.
Nash agreed with a nod.
He stayed by Orion’s side, holding his small hand and kissing it gently.
“Orion, this is your grandfather. There’s still some misunderstanding between your mom and your grandfather, and I need you to help them work it out. Your grandfather made some mistakes in the past, but he’s changed now. “Your grandfather is treating you, so don’t tell your mom about your illness, okay?” Nash spoke softly and patiently with a gentle smile on his lips.
Orion nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile, on Nina’s side, Micah stayed by her side, making sure she was comfortable. Others brought her fruit, snacks, and even signature dishes from Birkham.
However, Micah’s sharp eyes quickly recognized someone familiar. “Aren’t these tasks for the helpers? Freya, what are you doing here?”
Micah grabbed Freya’s wrist, pulling her closer.
Freya hurriedly explained, “Last time was just a misunderstanding, wasn’t it? When I saw Miss Ivy return, I wanted to help by preparing some food, to make her feel at home…”
Micah cut her off, his expression darkening. “This has always been her home.”
Nina grew up here, but she was separated from this place when she was young and sent to Birkham. Because of this, deep down, she always identified as a Birkhamese.
Freya hesitated, unsure how to respond. After her conflict with Nina and learning that Nina was actually Miss Ivy, she had been consumed with guilt. She had been waiting for an opportunity to make up for her past mistakes, but now, her efforts were being rejected. Freya was on the verge of tears. “I’m sorry, Mr. Micah. I didn’t mean any harm. I just wanted Miss Ivy to feel more comfortable here. I wasn’t trying to offend anyone. What happened last time is in the past. I just wanted to do better this time.”
As Freya spoke, she gestured apologetically, clearly eager to prove her sincerity.
She looked like a child in front of Micah, her dark eyes filled with a touch of innocence.
Micah, however, was not interested in hearing more of her excuses. “Save it. We don’t need you here. Just-”
Before he could finish, Nina interrupted, “I’m going for a walk.”
