Chapter 1749
Karina instinctively wanted to follow, but a nurse stepped forward to block her path.
“Dr. Karina, you can’t leave right now. This matter needs to be thoroughly investigated,” the nurse said firmly.
“I really didn’t push him! He collapsed on his own. I swear you have to believe me,” Karina pleaded, but the nurse simply shook her head without responding further. At that moment, the hospital security team arrived at the scene. They escorted Karina to an office, where she was instructed to wait for further action.
Sitting in a chair, Karina hugged her arms tightly around herself, trembling.
It wasn’t long before hospital administrators arrived, their expressions heavy with disapproval. Without any hesitation, they launched into a barrage of harsh reprimands. “Dr. Karina, how could you, as a medical professional, do something like this on hospital grounds? This is a serious violation of our policies and professional ethics!” “No matter what the reason, your actions could bring immense negative consequences to the hospital!”
Karina tried to explain herself, but her voice was drowned out by their scolding. Unable to defend herself, she lowered her head helplessly, tears welling up in her eyes. Just as Karina was overwhelmed with despair, Mr. and Mrs. Stone rushed into the hospital after learning the news.
They burst into the patient room, where Kieran lay unconscious. Mrs. Stone collapsed onto the floor, wailing uncontrollably.
Mr. Stone, his face dark with rage, stormed into the office where Karina was waiting.
The moment he saw her, he charged forward, raising his hand to strike her. Fortunately, the security guards intercepted him just in time.
“You ruined my son’s life! You’ll never have peace!” Mr. Stone roared in fury.
“You’re a curse! Look at what you’ve done to my son. What are you going to do about it?” Mrs. Stone screamed hysterically, her arms flailing wildly as she tried to lunge at Karina. Karina sobbed as she explained, “I didn’t push him, I swear! He collapsed out of nowhere!”
But Mr. Stone wouldn’t listen.
Though slightly calmer, his words cut just as deeply. “Karina, no matter how you put it, my son is in this condition because of you. Our family has treated you well, and yo@can’t just walk away now.
“You have only one choice-you marry Kieran and take care of him for the rest of your life. That’s the only way we’ll let this go. Otherwise, we’ll have no reason to live either. We’ll die right here and now, and it’ll all be your fault!”
As he spoke, Mr. Stone pulled a small knife from his pocket and dramatically moved to slash his wrist.
Mrs. Stone, seeing this, ran to the nearby windowsill, climbed onto it, and screamed through her tears, “Karina, if you don’t agree, I’ll jump right

Karina’s face was streaked with tears as she looked helplessly at the furious administrators.
“I’m innocent. I can’t agree to something so unreasonable just because I’ve been wronged,” she cried, but her voice was lost in the cacophony of panic and accusations.
Mr. Stone added fuel to the fire. “Karina, don’t think you can escape responsibility!
