Chapter 1748

“Jenna, have you heard? That notoriously difficult patient from the neighboring department actually thanked the staff today. I can’t believe it,” Mandy said, her face lit with surprise. Jenna chuckled and replied, “Maybe our care finally moved him. By the way, why hasn’t Dr. Karina come back yet? She should’ve finished her rounds by now.”
Mandy shrugged casually. “Probably a patient with a more complex situation. You know how meticulous and responsible Dr. Karina is.”
“That’s true, but it’s been so long already. I’m starting to feel uneasy,” Jenna said, frowning as a sliver of worry crept into her thoughts.
“Oh, don’t overthink it. Maybe she ran into someone she knows and stopped to chat. This hospital’s big, after all,” Mandy tried to reassure her.
But as the minutes ticked by, Karina still didn’t return.
Jenna couldn’t sit still anymore. She stood up and said, “This isn’t right. I’m going to check on her. It’s late, and I don’t want anything bad happening.”
Seeing Jenna’s serious demeanor, Mandy dropped her relaxed attitude. “Alright, I’ll go with you.”
The two had barely stepped out of the nurses’ station when they heard faint commotion coming from the stairwell. Among the noise, they caught what sounded like Karina’s voice, calling out. They exchanged a worried glance, their expressions instantly shifting to alarm, and ran toward the stairwell.
“”Dr. Karina!”
Karina heard her colleagues calling her name. Summoning the last of her strength, she shouted back as loud as she could, “Help! I’m here!”
Using every ounce of energy left in her, Karina wrenched herself free from Kieran’s grasp and dashed toward her colleagues.
She thought she was finally free from Kieran’s harassment, but then, something unexpected happened.
As Kieran was shaken off, he lost his balance, stumbling backward. He staggered a few steps before collapsing to the ground.
What happened next was horrifying.
He began convulsing violently, foam
spilling from his mouth as he displayed all the terrifying
symptoms of a sudden seizure.

Just as this unfolded, Jenna and Mandy reached the stairwell door The sight that greeted them froze them in their tracks-Karina standing to the side, and Kieran convulsing on the floor.
Their faces turned pale with shock and confusion, and their minds instinctively connected the scene to Karina’s actions.
Karina was equally stunned by the sudden turn of events. She stood frozen, staring at Kieran writhing on the floor, her mind blank.
“I… I didn’t push him. He just…. collapsed all of a sudden…” Karina stammered, trying to explain, but her voice sounded small and powerless in the tense atmosphere.
The nurses didn’t immediately respond to Karina’s words. They quickly crouched down, checking Kieran’s condition and starting emergency aid. One nurse placed her fingers on Kieran’s carotid artery to feel for a pulse, while the other opened his eyelids to check his pupils’ response. “Quick! Bring a stretcher and notify the ER to prepare!” one of the nurses barked urgently into her walkie-talkie.
Moments later, other medical staff arrived with a stretcher, rushing to lift Kieran onto it and wheeling him toward the emergency room at top speed.
