Karina looked at Yvette, smiling as she shook her head, then glanced down at the bouquet in her hands. A decision had already taken root in her mind.
It seemed she wouldn’t need to agonize over who would catch it after all.
The earlier ceremonies wrapped up smoothly, and soon it was time for the bouquet toss.
In her flowing white wedding dress, Karina raised the bouquet, teasing the crowd with a few feints. Everyone tensed, their eyes glued to her every move, only to relax when she didn’t let it fly.
Then, just when they thought they could breathe, Karina suddenly changed direction, aiming the bouquet directly at Yvette’s position.
At that moment, it was as if everyone around Yvette had an unspoken agreement they all scattered, leaving her completely exposed.
The bouquet arced gracefully toward Yvette, who instinctively stepped back, trying to avoid it. But with the area around her now empty, the bouquet was destined to hit the ground if she didn’t catch it.
As it neared the grass, Yvette finally gave in, lunging forward to grab it just before it landed.
In her haste, however, her foot caught on the hem of her dress, and she lost her balance, toppling forward.
But the fall she braced for never came.
Instead, she found herself in a warm embrace, and a deep, magnetic voice murmured near her ear, “Are you alright?”
Flustered, Yvette scrambled to her feet, shaking her head quickly. “I’m fine, really!”
Her sudden movement had tugged on his jacket, popping a button loose. Embarrassed, she bent down to pick it up and handed it to him awkwardly. “Here, this is yours.”
After a pause, she hesitated and added, “I… don’t know how to sew.”
The man chuckled softly. “That’s alright.”

After the ceremony, the guests mingled freely on the lawn. The area was set up with games, a buffet of snacks, and an open bar, creating a lively and relaxed atmosphere.
Karina had changed out of her wedding gown to get a new look for the evening. While she was with the stylist, Wilfred popped in several times.
Karina gave him a gentle nudge, whispering, “There are still a lot of guests to entertain. Both of us hiding here doesn’t seem appropriate.”
Wilfred’s response was serious, yet unyielding. “I just want to be with you.”
He paused, glanced toward the door, and cleared his throat. “Besides, they’re up to something. I think they’re plotting to disrupt our wedding night.”
Karina instantly caught his meaning, her cheeks burning with heat. Wilfred, however, seemed oblivious to her embarrassment.
While the stylist stepped out to fetch
a new headpiece, he leaned in closer and whispered conspiratorially, “They’re all medical
professionals-they know exactly how to make sure I’m so drunk that I can’t even stand, let alone enjoy our wedding night.”
Sensing the conversation veering into dangerous territory, Karina quickly interrupted and steered it back
on track. “They’ve been scheming for weeks-this is their big moment.”
Wilfred let out a low chuckle. “If
anyone gets out of line, I’ll double everyone’s end-of-year
bonus-except for the troublemaker. I’ll announce it right now and see who dares push their luck.
The mention of bonuses reminded him of the contract he had been forced to sign earlier.
“Where’s that last sheet I stamped?”
“Yvette’s probably holding onto it,” Karina replied thoughtfully. “She’s probably the mastermind behind it all and plans to use it against you at the end of the year.”
Wilfred didn’t seem concerned about
the contents of the paper. His gaze remained fixed on Karina. “Doesn’t matter. As long as I have my wife, I’m happy. If that means doubling the bonuses, so be it.”
