Chapter 1018
William stared coldly at Nash, his expression hard and unyielding.
To Nash, William had once been distant but still relatively supportive. He had never contested Nash’s control over the York family affairs and had even sided with him after Sally’s actions. But now…
“What Grandpa left you is yours. I won’t touch it,” Nash replied calmly, his tone carrying a subtle warning. The message was clear. Anything their grandfather had not given to William was strictly off-limits. William had not expected Nash to be so unyielding. He pointed a finger at Nash’s face.
“Nash, don’t forget, without the York family, you wouldn’t be where you are today. I’ve held back from saying certain things to save you face, but if you keep pushing…”
“You want to tell everyone that I’m not really part of the York family?” Nash interrupted with a cold laugh.
William fell silent, realizing that Nash was well aware of his own position. Nash had survived countless hardships abroad. He wasn’t naive.
“Since you know, then you should also understand how much you owe the York family. Nash, what’s not yours, you shouldn’t try to keep all to yourself.”
William’s words made it clear that he was ready to burn bridges.
“If you want to pursue this, then take it to court. I’ll be ready,” Nash replied coolly. Then, raising his voice, he called out, “Quincy, show him out!”
In a moment, Quincy strode over, gesturing towards the door. “Mr. York, please.”
Knowing Nash’s capabilities, William understood that staying any longer would only lead to further humiliation. Reluctantly, he left, but he was not about to give up just yet. Later, he sought out Zoe.
Over the years, Zoe and Quincy had managed York Corporation efficiently. Although Nina had transferred all her shares to Zoe, she had declined and eventually returned them.
Zoe was glad Nash had returned, not only because he was alive but also because it meant she could finally take a break.
She had not expected William to show up.
“What brings you here today?” Zoe asked bluntly.
William had never been involved in managing the company, and after Nash’s departure, the responsibility had fallen on her shoulders. William had distanced himself and focused on his own life, rarely reaching out to her. Now that Nash was back, William’s sudden interest was suspicious.
“We’re both part of the York family, and you’re my sister. I don’t want you helping an outsider,” William said, his tone serious. By “outsider,” he clearly meant Nash.
When she had been managing the company alone, William had not offered his help or advice. But now, with Nash’s return, he was suddenly concerned.
To Zoe, William and Sally were cut from the same cloth.
“I’m helping my nephew. How does that make him an outsider? If you want something, use your own means to fight for it. But let me remind you, you didn’t care about their well-being before, so saying these things now is pointless.” Zoe acknowledged Nash’s place in the family and found William’s actions disgraceful.
