Chapter 1057

“Freya, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. I know you’re going through a lot,” Nina gently advised Freya.
Freya quickly shook off her doubts, and the preparations for their wedding continued. Meanwhile, Micah used the distraction of the wedding festivities to lay a trap for those who had poisoned Arin.
Micah was willing to show them mercy, but he had one condition. “If you want me to let you go, you must hand over the antidote for the poison you used.”
The wedding was grand and joyful, just as planned, and Micah’s feigned happiness lured his enemies into a false sense of security. They became careless, thinking they had won. But when they finally made their move, Micah was ready, capturing them all. One of them sneered, “It’s been such a long time, and you have the most skilled poison expert, Pharaoh, by your side. Tell me, do you think there’s an antidote for that poison?”
If the antidote existed, Pharaoh would have already saved Arin. Now, with only a few days left to live, Arin was doomed.
Their plan had been to use her, then silence her afterward. But they hadn’t expected Arin’s unwavering loyalty to Micah. She chose death over betraying him.
And they certainly didn’t anticipate Micah using his own wedding as a trap.
Micah’s face was stone-cold. “If there’s no antidote, then you’re all dead.”
He pulled the trigger without hesitation and handed the weapon to Arin. There was no better revenge than taking down her enemies herself, but even if Arin killed them, she wouldn’t survive. Still, since Micah gave her the gun, she followed through.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!” The men dropped like lifeless dolls.
But then Arin’s strength gave out. She collapsed, and Micah caught her just in time. Blood poured from her mouth, and even her eyes began to bleed.
“Help! Someone, help!” Micah’s voice echoed with desperation.
“Micah… I’m sorry. I wanted to hold on until after your wedding, but I overestimated myself… I shouldn’t have had any illusions,” Arin whispered weakly.
After warning Micah about the plot against him, she should have left immediately. That way, she wouldn’t have been a burden, wouldn’t have forced Micah to go to such lengths to save her.
Even if she were to die without any cure, she wouldn’t have to die in front of Micah. That would be so unlucky!
Arin struggled to get up from Micah’s arms, but she was too weak. Her body had no strength left, not even to lift her hands.
“Don’t move. Tell me what you want to do, and I’ll take you there…” Micah’s voice was soft and soothing.
A faint smile appeared on Arin’s lips, and for a moment, she let herself hope. “Could you take me to see the stars?”
The stars over Yaren territory were bright, a beautiful sight. There was a saying among the Yaren Tribe that when someone died, they would become a star in the sky.
With death approaching, Micah couldn’t refuse such a small request. He carried Arin outside to see the stars. She rested her head on his shoulder, looking up at the twinkling lights.
The stars were bright, but Arin felt colder than ever, and her eyelids grew heavier by the second.
“Micah… I’m so sorry for ruining your wedding and your wedding night. I wish you all the best in the future…” Her voice trailed off.
“And I wish you all the best in your next life,” Micah replied, his voice breaking.
