Chapter 1075

Sally did not spare Xavier a glance. She had no interest in the affairs of York Corporation.
Xavier chuckled. “Mrs. York, I wouldn’t be here without a reason. Haven’t you heard? There’s been a major shake-up at York Corp. Nash has gotten rid of all of the previous CEO’s people. The company is truly his now.” Sally responded with a nonchalant “Oh,” without adding anything more.
Undeterred, Xavier continued with a smile. “Mrs. York, if York Corporation were still under the old leadership, you wouldn’t be stuck in a place like this. I heard you wanted to go abroad, but financial support has been an issue. And honestly, that’s all because Nash has monopolized everything.”
“What are you getting at?” Sally finally spoke, but her expression remained calm.
Xavier, no longer able to contain himself, leaned in and whispered a few words.
A small smile crept onto Sally’s lips. “Alright, I’ll leave the arrangements to you, Mr. Wright.”
Xavier was so delighted that he nearly jumped for joy, eagerly promising to handle everything perfectly.
The so-called arrangement was a family gathering. After all, Sally was technically Nash’s mother, and no one would dare to ignore an invitation from her. Naturally, Nash wouldn’t refuse either.
That evening, as night fell, Nash arrived at the venue with Nina and Orion, right on time. Upon seeing Sally, Nash simply nodded in acknowledgment, without further pleasantries.
Sally’s gaze softened as she looked at Star, her eyes filled with warmth.
“Orion, say hello to your grandmother,” Nash said, prompting Orion to shyly greet her.
Sally beamed, immediately handing Orion a gift she had prepared in advance. Nash and Nina exchanged glances, surprised by Sally’s change in demeanor.
Since it was a family gathering, Zoe couldn’t be left out. Just as they were settling in, her voice echoed from outside.
“Still as loud as ever,” Sally muttered under her breath, then turned to Nina, who had remained quiet. “Nina, tell me, am I wrong?”
“Aunt Zoe is actually quite nice,” Nina said with a strained smile. “She’s probably just really excited today. Don’t take it to heart.” Nina regretted coming. The tension was palpable.
As Zoe entered, she greeted Nash and the others before sitting down next to Nina. She only gave Sally a brief nod in acknowledgment.
Family gatherings inevitably meant lectures from the elders. Sally stood up, cleared her throat, and said, “Since we rarely get together like this, I won’t dwell on other topics, but there’s one thing I need to bring up.”
Nash smiled slightly and replied, “Alright, but before that, let me make an announcement. You’ll be the new head of the finance department at York Corp.”
The title brought a beaming smile to Sally’s face and she found Nash more and more favorable in her eyes. After all, the finance department was closest to the money, and who wouldn’t want a position like that?
Zoe subtly kicked Nash under the table, giving him a look to remind him to think carefully. Nash smiled back and started serving Sally some food.
He casually brought up topics about the rehab center, recounting details as if he had been there himself. It was clear that he had done his homework, showing how much he valued Sally.
Sally felt a wave of emotion, a mother’s affection stirring within her. For a moment, she hesitated about what she had planned to do.
They continued to chat pleasantly until Nash suddenly shifted the topic. “I remember before you went to the rehab center, you used to travel a lot. If I’m not mistaken, your dream place to live has always been Ponyville, right?”
