Nash waved him off, his expression calm. “We’ve been through worse rumors before. If I got upset over something this trivial, how would I face the real storms in life? Just focus on living well. Those people won’t dare talk nonsense again.”

Nash leaned down to whisper in her ear, “Ben only has one child. You know he’ll definitely want more. Shouldn’t we get ahead and have another first?”
Nina froze for a second before smacking his chest hard. “Who was it that swore we’d never have another? You men are all liars! Get lost!”
Nash laughed, unfazed. “I’ve
changed my mind. I think more kids would be nice. After all, it’s just us here in the city. I have no siblings and your brother is all the way in the Yaren Tribe. It wouldn’t hurt to have a bigger family around us, would it?”
“Easy for you to say! Childbirth is painful. Why don’t you do it yourself?” Nina shot back, her face stern.
Nash planted a kiss on her cheek, his tone playful. “If I could, I would. If science ever makes it possible for men to give birth, I’ll volunteer to go first.”
“Spare me.” Nina rolled her eyes, clearly not buying his nonsense.
“Driver, hurry up,” Nash urged, ignoring her grumbles.
Nina fell silent, her exasperation palpable. At that moment, her desire to throttle Nash was crystal clear.
Despite the earlier drama, the banquet successfully turned the tide of public opinion. The rumors surrounding Ben, Jamie, and everyone else vanished into thin air. Ben was satisfied with how things turned out.
Jamie had originally planned to help Ben with his work, but after reconsidering, she knew she needed to build her own path and make a name for herself through her own efforts. It was better to focus on one thing and do it well.
So, she chose to pursue a career in law.
“I think it’s best if you just hire another secretary,” Jamie said firmly. I’ve finally gotten all my credentials in order to practice law. If I let this opportunity slip by I might never get it back.”
