Chapter 354
Chapter 354:
A few minutes later, Erika appeared at the stairs, her eyes swollen and fresh tears threatening to fall.
At first, Robert’s anger burned hot, but as he looked at Erika, broken and tearful, a part of it faded away. She was his precious daughter, the one who had been with him since she was young.
His heart softened, and with a gentler tone, Robert called, “Erika, come here.” Still crying, Erika shuffled toward Robert.
Robert asked, his brow furrowing, “We had guests, and you spoke like that? How could you be so careless p>
Erika cried, her body trembling with each sob. “I really did go talk to Mayson. I wanted him to help us. Dad, I was telling the truth. I truly tried. I really wanted to help our family p>
Robert wasn’t easily fooled; his mind always worked in its own way. At Erika’s explanation, he began to think she might have genuinely tried to help. It seemed she really did approach Mayson.
But what was the point of going to Mayson? Mayson didn’t have control over the Turner family business—Vinson was the key!
What Robert didn’t realize was that Erika had gone to Mayson for help to take credit for herself and undermine Fernanda. He assumed her actions were driven by a sense of duty to the family.
Seeing her good intentions, Robert’s heart softened. He couldn’t bring himself to be harsh. His voice turned gentler. “But the real credit belongs to your sister. She’s the one who worked out the deal with Vinson. Saying what you did in front of everyone—don’t you see how foolish that makes us look? What are they going to think of us p>
Robert was deeply troubled about his image. The thought of being embarrassed consumed him.
However, Erika wasn’t paying attention to anything he said anymore. She was crying uncontrollably, her mind foggy and everything around her feeling distant and unreal.
All she could think about was this: her efforts had been wasted, and Fernanda had taken all the credit!
She had not just failed to help her family—now she was seen as someone desperate for attention, scolded by her own father!

The pain cut through her heart. Why did Fernanda have to steal her moment? No matter who tried to comfort her, Erika remained unmoved. She just sat on the sofa, tears streaming down her face, lost in her own sorrow.
When dinner was ready, Erika refused to come, no matter how many times she was called. Robert’s patience finally snapped.
Today should have been a celebration, a day of relief after solving such a big issue, but Erika’s constant sobbing was ruining everything.
“Why do you keep crying? What’s the point of all this?” Robert stormed out of the dining room, tapping Erika’s arm sharply with a spoon. “If this doesn’t stop, I swear, you can leave! I don’t want to see your face right now p>
Michelle rushed to Erika’s side, trying to comfort her, but Erika shoved her away and ran off in tears.
