Chapter 357
Chapter 357:
That was when Fernanda stopped pretending. No more masks, no more going along with the family’s lies.
“They all hold something against me. Ector, you’re the only one who’s ever been kind to me,” Fernanda said softly, her words barely audible over the storm, yet Ector heard every syllable with his heart.
“You’re a part of this family. It’s only right that I treat you well,” Ector said, offering a gentle smile. “You’re wonderful. Some people might hold prejudices against you now, but don’t worry. In time, they’ll come around p>
Fernanda remained silent, unaffected by his words. She didn’t care what anyone thought of her. Whether they liked her or not made no difference.
Ector understood. She wasn’t saying it to complain—she was just being honest about where she stood with the Morgans.
Ector saw Fernanda for who she truly was, and it made him admire her even more. In his opinion, she was entitled to good treatment. At first, his generosity toward her had been tinged with sympathy, but now it was motivated by respect and admiration.
He had a really wonderful half-sister.
“Fernanda, no matter what happens in the future, you’ll always be my sister,” Ector said seriously. “I will always be there for you—to care for you and protect you p>
At that moment, Fernanda didn’t feel the cold of the rain anymore.
The Morgan family’s mansion suddenly seemed to embrace a warmth that hadn’t been there before. For the first time, Fernanda truly felt the sense of having family.
Ector had made that promise to her time and time again—that he would treat her right—and it wasn’t just empty words. He had been showing her every day, through his actions.
She remembered just a few days ago, how he’d stepped in and shielded her from a harsh whipping with a belt.
“Does the wound on your back still hurt?” Fernanda asked, her voice soft with concern.

“It stopped hurting a long time ago,” Ector replied casually, rolling his shoulder as if to emphasize the point. He flexed the muscles in his back. “I’ve been checking in the mirror every day, and the bruises have faded quite a bit. In a couple more days, they’ll be completely gone—no trace left. Don’t worry about it p>
Fernanda gave him a nod, her lips parted as she was about to speak, but then Ector interrupted, “It looks like you’ve got a call on your phone p>
She glanced over her shoulder, and sure enough, the phone on the bed was lit up. A call at this hour—what could be so urgent?
Fernanda quickly pulled open the balcony door, and just as abruptly, the ringtone stopped, only to blare again with urgency a few seconds later. She rushed to the phone, picking it up without a second thought. The name on the screen was Leon.
“Leon, what’s going on?” she asked, her voice laced with concern.
The sound on the other end was chaotic, the noise overwhelming. Leon raised his voice to be heard over it. “Fernanda, your brother and sister are here with me. Do you want to come pick them up p>
“Brother and sister?” Fernanda blinked in confusion.
