Sandy looked at Lydia as if she’d never seen her before. “How could you possibly be Miracle Hands’s apprentice?” Her voice was full of doubt and confusion.

Lydia let out a soft sigh. “Believe what you want. The truth is, I’m the only one who can do Luke’s surgery. If you agree, sign the forms. I need to get ready.”
She turned and walked away, leaving the others reeling.
Jenson, Milana, and Sandy just stood there, stunned.
Milana shook her head, refusing to believe it. “How could this happen? She’s been living in the countryside this whole time. How could she become Miracle Hands’s apprentice?”

Milana realized it too, and suddenly her head started to ache. “That girl set me up,” she muttered under her breath. “She knew exactly what she was doing.”
Jenson didn’t care about any of that. He just wanted to know if his son would be okay. He grabbed Dr. Hady, desperate for reassurance. “Dr. Hady, can Lydia really do Luke’s kidney transplant?”
Dr. Hady’s face was serious. “Mr. Smith, this is Capital Hospital. Do you really think we’d risk a patient’s life?”
“No, that’s not what I meant. It’s just… I never thought Lydia could be Miracle Hands’s apprentice. It’s too much to take in.”
If Dr. Hady hadn’t personally guaranteed it, Jenson never would have believed it.
Dr. Hady just shook his head, clearly done with the conversation. “No one but Lydia can do your son’s surgery. You should trust her. She wouldn’t have agreed unless she was absolutely sure of herself.”
