For once, Lucinda felt like she’d found someone who truly got her. Listening to Rose vent about Lydia, it was like meeting an old friend who shared all her frustrations.
“Ever since Lydia started at the company, Mr. Ragain and I haven’t had a single peaceful day,” Rose complained, her voice rising. “Now everyone at work is fed up with her, but your parents act like she’s the best thing that ever happened. Lucinda acted shocked. “Really? So much has been going on at the office these past couple of days?”

Rose finally got up, her face twisted with anger. “So she’s just some hick from the middle of nowhere. And she actually thinks she can boss us around.”
Parker let out a cold snort. “I knew it. I’ve never heard of her in the Norwood family before. So she saved the old man, and Kylie and Cameron just took her in as a daughter because they felt they owed her?”
