When Mabel brought up Lydia, Benjamin’s face twisted with anger.

Cameron and Kylie suddenly appeared. Benjamin was caught off guard. He hadn’t expected to see them, especially not Kylie. She’d cut ties with the Robinson family decades ago. What was she doing back now?
“So if she really had been just another college student with no one to rely on, you think it would’ve been fine for you to bully her as much as you wanted?” Kylie shot back, her voice sharp and angry.
Luckily, Connor had been with Lydia in the car that day. Luckily, Lydia knew how to protect herself. How was a normal eighteen-year-old girl supposed to deal with kidnappers? These people had no respect for the law. They did whatever they wanted.
Benjamin looked down, struggling to meet anyone’s eyes. Then, he seemed to think of something and looked up at the couple.
“Mr. Norwood. Mrs. Norwood. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Connor and Lydia are awfully close. Don’t come crying when someone steals your son-in-law right out from under you.”
Cameron and Kylie just laughed at Benjamin’s smug face.
“You can’t even handle your own family’s mess. Don’t try to butt into ours.”
Mabel looked completely fed up. She sneered, “Just leave. Go talk to Jackson or whoever. Your problems aren’t our problems, and honestly, we’re not interested.”
Benjamin stomped his foot, furious. “Mabel!”
“Benjamin, I’m warning you. This is not the place to raise your voice. Get out. Now!” Mabel’s patience snapped.
“Fine. You’re really not going to help me, are you?” Benjamin was shaking with rage.
William stepped forward, putting himself between Mabel and Benjamin. His eyes narrowed. “We’re not helping. So what? What are you going to do about it?”
As soon as William spoke, Benjamin’s bravado faded. He tried a softer tone.
“William, look, I’m not asking for much. Just this once, if you’d help us out, I’ll do whatever you want in the future. Anything.”
“Even change your last name to Robinson?” William lifted an eyebrow, dead serious.
Mabel had to press her lips together to keep from laughing. William never joked around, but her brother had obviously pushed him too far.
“William, come on, that’s not fair. My parents already gave their only daughter to your family changed my last name, they’d probably come back from the grave just to chew me out”
Suddenly, Lydia walked out from inside the house and looked straight at Benjamin. “Here’s the latest. Mandy’s confessed to everything and is waiting for her sentence.”
Benjamin’s face went pale. He stared at Lydia like he’d seen a ghost. “You… what are you doing here?”
This was the Robinson family home. Why would Lydia be here?

“Wanna guess why I’m here?” Lydia asked, her lips curling into a cool, defiant smile. She looked like she had nothing to hide.
Something flickered in Benjamin’s eyes. He glanced from Kylie to Cameron, completely thrown.
