Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back Chapter 621

Chapter 621

With her heart pounding, she bolted for the parking lot. The hotel had parking both above and below ground. Her car was in the lot upstairs, but with the cops closing in, her instincts took over and she dashed into the underground garage, hoping she
could find a way out.
“Soren?”
She hurried down the stairs, heels echoing on the concrete, and spotted Soren just as he was getting into his car. For a split second, hope flared inside her. She picked up her pace, nearly running.
“Soren!”
Soren had already sensed something was off and had left the party early with his parents. He didn’t want Lydia making trouble for them. His parents’ car was parked above ground and was probably already on its way out of the hotel.
When he caught sight of Sandy running toward him, his expression shifted. He yanked his car door shut, ready to drive off. No way was he getting involved, not after the way Lydia had phrased things. Sandy was the main suspect now. Getting mixed up with her would only bring him more problems.
Sandy saw the panic in Soren’s eyes. Desperate, she pressed herself against his car, her voice trembling.
“Soren, please… please help me.”
Soren was freaking out. He shouted, “Sandy, you know exactly what you’ve done. How am I supposed to help you? Get off my car or I’ll call the police!”
Sandy knew she was Lydia’s target and Soren had already witnessed what Lydia was capable of. There was no way he’d risk crossing her.
“Soren, it wasn’t me. My mom and dad did it, not me. I’m being set up!”
He shot back, “Doesn’t matter who did what. It’s not my problem. Move, I need to go.”
Desperate, Sandy played her last card. “Soren, I own half of Smith Corporation’s assets. Help me and I’ll give them all to you.”
That caught his attention. For a second, he actually hesitated, but then he scoffed. “Smith Corporation is finished. You seriously think you have assets left to give? You can’t fool me. Get out of here.”
“I’m serious. I have it in writing, a legal agreement. Even if I’m under suspicion, the assets are still mine. I can sign everything over to you, right now.”
Soren went quiet, clearly thinking it over.
Sandy noticed his hesitation and pressed her advantage. “Lydia destroyed Lane Enterprises. Don’t you
want to get back at her? With
half of Smith Corporation in your hands, you’d have a real shot.
Meanwhile, the police had searched the entire hotel and found nothing. It was like Sandy had vanished into thin air.
Lydia stood quietly, watching Byron fidget and scratch his head. She didn’t have to say a word. Her stare alone made him feel like he wanted to disappear.
Byron cleared his throat. “We checked every car that left, we went through all the security footage. There’s just no sign of her.”
Lydia replied, her tone flat, “You might want to brush up on your investigative skills.”
Byron nodded so fast he looked
dizzy. “Yes, absolutely. It was our mistake to lose her. Don’t worry we’ll handle it. We’ll track her down and make sure this case is closed.”
After thinking for a moment, Lydia said, “Look into the Lane family. See if Sandy reached out to them for help.”
Byron nodded again. “Right away. I’ll get someone on it.” He glanced over at Jenson and Milana, who were sti, at least for now. Fresh chapters posted on ÍŸ.net
“Take them away,” Lydia said.
“Understood.”
As the officers helped Milana and Jenson to their feet, the two of them seemed to finally snap out of their stupor. Milana looked around, searching for someone when she didn’t see Luke anywhere, she rounded on Lydia.
“Lydia, where’s Luke? What did you do to him? Did you threaten him into this?”
