Harvey stood at attention, his voice steady and respectful. “Sir, General Jefferson has been retired for years. All this posturing is just him being jealous of your promotion. He’s just playing boss at a small training camp while you’re the real hero of the nation.”
Jackson had spent his whole life hating being second to Connor. That was why he’d thrown himself into every mission, chasing every victory, just to have the chance to finally one-up Connor, to put him beneath his feet. And now, he’d finally done it.

Harvey nodded. “You’re always thinking ahead, sir.”
Jackson thought for a moment. “Look into that girl, Lydia.”
“Yes, sir.”
The news that Rosie’s group was under investigation for cheating, along with Dennis, spread through the camp like wildfire. Everyone was stunned. People had thought Rosie was some kind of prodigy, but in the end, she was just like Daisy’s group-cheating her way to the top. Was having money and connections really a free pass to ignore the rules?
