Chapter 694

Connor’s face clouded over. “What’s the point of having you around?”
Aiden felt his heart jump into his throat. “Boss, I’ll check it out right away!”
Seriously, how was this his fault? Ever since they got back to the country, Connor had been completely wrapped up in his love life. Aiden was so busy he barely had time to breathe, let alone deal with everything else.
How could he have guessed that Jay would sneak off to Capital Med School to be Lydia’s instructor?
Connor let out a cold snort. “If this happens again, you can go spend some time reflecting on your mistakes.”
Aiden straightened up, nodding hard. “Yes, Boss!”
Reflect on his mistakes was a glorified way to say he’s getting shipped off to somewhere far away.
That afternoon, everyone was practicing with light firearms.
Daisy was the first to step up. She gripped the gun with total confidence, standing
tall at the firing line, eyes locked on the center of the target.
A sharp crack split the air.
The scent of gunpowder wafted around them.
Everyone leaned in, counting the rings. “One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight!”
“Oh my god, eight rings!”
“Daisy hit the eight!”
“No way. I’m lucky if I hit a two or three. I had no idea she could shoot like that.”
For anyone new to shooting, the target was split into ten rings, with the bullseye at ten. That’s where you want to hit, the mark of perfect aim. The numbers went down as you moved out from the center, all the way to one, which basically meant you barely hit the target at all.
Guns, distances, and the shooter’s skill all played a part. Beginners usually ended up somewhere between three and six especially they were nervous or didn’t know how to handle the recoil. Someone who’d had real training could usually stay between eight and ten at a decent range.
So for Daisy to nail an eight, it was obvious she had some real experience.
Jay clapped for her. “Nice job, Daisy. Everyone should take notes.”
The whole group joined in, giving her a round of applause.
Daisy lifted her chin, throwing a proud glance over at Lydia, who was still staring at the target Daisy had hit.
Daisy couldn’t help but smirk to herself. Bet you’re nervous now, Lydia.
She’d been shooting since she was a kid. There was no way Lydia, some broke student from the countryside, could even come close. If Ľydia managed to hit a three, she’@be lucky..
While everyone was still buzzing, a tall, good-looking guy stepped up It’s Felix the class clown who was always the loudest in the group chat.
Someone called out, “Felix, don’t embarrass us guys. You’ve got to get a nine!”
“Yeah, Felix, show the girls what we’re made of!”
Felix grinned, grabbed the gun, and took his time aiming. After a long pause, he muttered, “I’m nervous.”
Everyone groaned and started teasing him, saying they should pick someone else. Updates are released by
Jay cut in, “This is just practice, but make the most of it. Your scores will count in the end.”
Felix complained, “It’s not that I can’t shoot, I just get stage fright with all the girls watching.”
The whole group burst into laughter.
They figured he was just joking around, but to their shock, Felix really did hit a nine, just a hair away from the center.
