Before Lydia came, Mabel had honestly thought she was done for. The attack felt exactly like the one she’d had a few years back, sudden and overwhelming, leaving her no time to catch her breath. Last time, she’d spent hours fighting for her life in the ER. She never imagined she’d be lucky enough to meet Lydia, who could make that suffocating feeling disappear in just a couple of minutes.

He turned to Lydia, dropped to his knees, and bowed. “You saved my mom. The Robinson family will never forget it.”
