NO1 was always a mystery. Whenever they showed up on the track, they were covered head to toe in racing gear, helmet never coming off, never saying a word to the press. The organizers kept everything under wraps, and the rumors only grew. Some people swore NO1 was a guy, while others were convinced NO1 was a woman.
But truthfully, nobody cared. Fans just loved NO1, the world’s top racer.
Lucinda rolled her eyes, thinking the people behind her were out of their minds. Seriously, what was the big deal? It was just a race car driver.
Suddenly, Kylie nudged Cameron and whispered, “Look, doesn’t NO1 kind of look like Lydia? I mean, the way they move, their vibe… it’s so familiar.”
Their seats had a perfect view, and right then, Lydia and the team were standing close by. When Lydia stepped out of the car and waved to the crowd, Kylie’s heart skipped a beat. She couldn’t shake the feeling.

“I really think it’s possible,” Kylie said.
Lucinda, who’d been listening, stared at her parents like they’d completely lost it. “Dad, Mom, I get that you think Lydia’s great, but come on. There’s no way she’s NO1.”
In her head, racing was a guy thing. Weren’t all of Chris’ teammates men? She couldn’t believe everyone was starting to treat Lydia like she was some superhero. It was ridiculous.
Connor just shook his head at Lucinda, thinking she was honestly the most clueless person he’d ever met. She always just assumed that if she couldn’t do something, no one else could either.
“But I’m serious, that silhouette really does look like Lydia,” Kylie insisted.
Lucinda snorted. “Mom, you’re just seeing things. If Lydia turns out to be NOT twist my own head off and let her use it as a soccer ball.”
Connor grinned. “You might want to get ready for that. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
Lucinda scowled. “Connor, she’s not even here yet.”
“We’ll find out soon enough. Don’t chicken out,” Connor shot back, smirking.
Lucinda was fuming. How could anyone believe Lydia was NO1? Whatever. They’d see soon enough. There was no way it was her.
Meanwhile, Lydia had taken first
place in the qualifiers. Chris and the rest of the team all finished in the top five, which meant they’d
