The blond guy frowned. “How much do you want? A thousand?”
The long-haired girl immediately clung to his arm. “Paul, they’ve already made five hundred. Why would you give them a thousand?”
Paul grinned at her. “Relax, babe. As long as you’re having fun, what’s a thousand bucks?”
They’d decided last minute to catch a movie and, of course, all the good seats were gone. After looking around, they noticed Lydia and Connor were sitting right in the center. It’s only two of them, so swapping would be easy.
“If you’re that rich, why not just rent out the whole theater?” Lydia shot back, sarcasm in her voice.
Paul just scoffed. “We like watching with a crowd. It’s more fun, you know?”

Paul’s face darkened when Lydia told them to leave. “I’m warning you, don’t be ungrateful. A thousand bucks. Take it and get lost.”
He yanked out five more bills, waving them in Lydia’s face with obvious disgust. “Don’t be stupid about this. I know people who work here.”
Lydia laughed. “You could show up with a hundred grand and you still wouldn’t get these seats.”
Paul rolled his eyes. “You’re full of it. A hundred grand? Dream on.”
Paul’s date, a famous influencer called Lola, laughed right along with him. “Do we look like idiots? Who would pay a hundred grand just to swap seats for a movie? You must really need the cash.”
“I’ll say it one more time. Leave.”
Seeing she was serious, Paul finally stuffed his money back in his wallet. His arm was getting tired anyway. He crossed his arms and leaned against the seat, looking as stubborn as ever in sitting here tonight. What are you going to do about it?”
Lola latched onto Paul’s arm, giving Lydia a smug, challenging look. “You shouldn’t act so tough. Men like girls who are gentle, you know.”
Then she glanced over at Connor, sizing him up. He was tall, with that cool, distant vibe. Probably good-looking too. She just wondered if he was as rich as Paul.
Connor caught her stare and looked genuinely disgusted, his brow tightening.
Lydia had had enough. A cold, dangerous look flashed in her eyes. “You’re really not moving?”
Paul smirked. “I’m not going anywhere. What can you do about it?”
There was a loud thud. Before Paul could even finish his sentence, Lydia kicked him right out of his seat.
Lola screamed. The whole thing happened so fast, everyone nearby just froze. No one had expected Lydia, of all people, to be this fierce. She’d kicked Paul so hard he landed in the row behind them.
Paul was completely stunned. For a second, the world spun, and then he realized he was flat on his back on the floor, staring up at the seats it. finally hit him that he’d just been kicked out of his chair by a girl.
Rage shot through him, burning him up from the inside. He scrambled to his feet, pointing at Lydia, his finger shaking with anger. “You crazy bitch! How dare you kick me?”
“Oh my god, Paul, are you okay?” Lola shrieked, then shot Lydia a deadly glare. Her voice went shrill and dramatic. “Are you out of your mind? Do you know who you just messed with? You’re dead!”
For the record, Paul was actually Lola’s top fan. They’d met up today for a quick hookup, also hoping to enjoy a movie together. Neither of them expected to run into someone who wasn’t scared of them.
Lydia’s eyes were icy and sharp. “You should worry about him and who he’s messing with.”
Lola hesitated, her confidence fading as she realized Lydia wasn’t bluffing. A flicker of fear crossed her face.
