Broccoli’s worry was written all over her face. “But Lydia
“Go.” Lydia’s voice was calm and firm. She wasn’t the least bit worried about herself.
Broccoli hesitated, then nodded. “Alright. We’ll get them out and come back as soon as we can.”
“Okay.”
Broccoli and Pumpkin each took a vehicle, loaded the girls inside, and drove away from the compound.
Lydia climbed up to higher ground and surveyed the area. She spotted a small, rundown building tucked away in the southeast corner, barely noticeable compared to the rest. That was her target.
She moved quietly, her petite frame slipping through the shadows while guards patrolled everywhere. When she reached the shabby building, two big men stood out front, pacing back and forth with guns in their hands. Lydia checked her weapons. She had a silenced pistol and a homemade tranquilizer gun hidden up her sleeve.

Lydia slipped inside. The stench hit her like a wall, thick and sour, making her gag. A narrow hallway stretched ahead, lined with doors, each one locked and rusted. She cursed under her breath. She should’ve searched the guards for keys, but there was no time to go back.
There were no windows, so she couldn’t see into the rooms. Still, these old locks weren’t going to stop her. She took a small piece from her tranquilizer gun, thicker than a sewing needle, and picked the nearest lock. The door popped open with a soft click.
She pushed the door in. The room was dim and stank of sweat and fear. Seven boys were huddled in a corner, hugging their knees and trembling. They looked up in shock when they saw her, a girl who seemed almost angelic in the gloom.
What stunned them even more was when Lydia spoke to them. “If you’re brave enough, run northwest. Don’t stop.”
The guards outside were already down. The boys stared at her, then scrambled to their feet and dropped to their knees, thanking her over and over.
Lydia pulled out her phone and showed them a photo. “Have you seen this boy?”
They shook their heads, one after another.
She felt a pinch of disappointment. “The coast is clear. Go, now. Don’t wait.”
The longer they stayed, the more dangerous it would get. The best thing was to get as many out as possible, as fast as possible.
She went from room to room,
picking locks and opening doors Every room she opened held more captives, some sobbing, some silent with shock. But none of them knew Luke.
Just as her hope was starting to fade, a man spoke up. “A new group got brought to the room next door today. They made a lot of noise. Maybe the boy you’re looking for was with them.”
Lydia’s heart jumped. “Did you hear anything? Do you know where they went?”
She’d already checked that room, but it was empty now. Was Luke just there earlier?
The man shook his head. “We heard someone fighting back. There was shouting, maybe someone got hurt.
There was talk about one
eight-year old girl to… to serve clients. Someone tried to protect her.”
Lydia’s brows knitted. “And then what?”
He lowered his voice. “We only caught some of it. They said their organs were
healthy, so I think they were taken somewhere else.”
Another captive nodded. “Yeah, I heard that too. People here get their organs cut out. Most don’t make it.”
A chill swept through Lydia. Luke’s body was already weak. He couldn’t survive something like that.
She clenched her fists. No matter what, she was finding Luke tonight!
Suddenly, gunshots rang out outside, sharp and loud. Sweet Potato’s voice buzzed through her earpiece. “Lydia, the escapees have been spotted. What should we do?”
