Jenson’s eyes lit up at Sandy’s suggestion. “Sandy, that’s a great idea. Our whole
goal is to get Mom to help us bring in Miracle Hands. If making her happy solves the problem, that’s perfect.”
Milana actually thought Sandy’s plan sounded pretty reasonable, but the idea of having to eat her pride and apologize to Lydia made her blood boil. She just couldn’t get over it.
It felt like her son’s life was hanging by a thread, and Lydia was the one holding the scissors. Mrs. Smith really knew how to push her buttons.
Once her precious son got better, Milana swore she would never bother with that old bitch again.
And Lydia? She could stay as far away as possible for all she cared.
“Mom, I know it’s a lot to ask you to apologize to Lydia,” Sandy said gently. “But Grandma is the only one who knows where Miracle Hands is and can actually get her to help Luke. Everything we’re doing is for him, right?”
Milana huffed. “I guess Lydia gets lucky this time.”
She turned to Jenson. “Call your mother. Tell her we’ll apologize to Lydia, but she can’t use this to force us to take Lydia back into the Smith family.”
They had finally managed to get rid of that troublemaker. No matter what, Milana wasn’t letting Lydia step foot in their house ever again.
Jenson nodded. “Okay. You take Sandy to see the doctor, and I’ll talk to Mom.”
“Alright.”
Jenson called his mother, but she didn’t pick up. He ended up sending a message instead. [Mom, if it makes you happy and saves Luke, we agree to apologize to Lydia. But you can’t make us bring her back into the family. She’s a Norwood now. She has nothing to do with us. Is that alright?]
Mrs. Smith read the message, shook her head, and couldn’t help but sigh. Absolutely clueless.

Jenson let out a breath. His mother always kept her promises. If she said yes, then Lydia definitely wasn’t coming back.
He rushed off to find Milana and Sandy, excited to tell them the good news.
Sandy’s face looked awful, but the
doctor said it was just some bruising. As long as she used the
ointment, the swelling would go down in a few days.
Still, she couldn’t go out just yet. She really did look kind of ridiculous.
“Dad, what did Grandma say?”
“She agreed!” Jenson grinned, feeling like a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
Milana snorted. “She finally came to her senses.”
“Sandy, how’s your face?” Jenson asked, giving his daughter a warm look. Now it was all up to Sandy. He believed she was thoughtful and kind enough to agree to donate a kidney and save Luke.

That’s right. Harry was supposed to meet with the LYLX execs tonight to talk about
their partnership. Jenson wondered how it went.
“Harry, how did the meeting go? Did you get the deal?”
They’d been working with LYLX for a long time. He figured everything would go smoothly again.
“Mr. Smith, LYLX never showed up tonight,” Harry said, his voice tight with worry. “And they just called to say they’re never working with us again.”
