The guy with the mohawk hesitated for a second. “Bring five hundred thousand in cash. Then we’ll talk.”
Leila let out a snort. “It’s just five hundred thousand. I can transfer it to you right now.”
“No way. This is a side job for me and my guys. If the boss finds out, we’re done for. It’s gotta be cash, no records, nothing that can be traced.”
Leila thought about it and realized he was right.
“Fine. Send me the location. Make sure it’s somewhere out of the way. I want to see that bitch’s miserable face in person.”
She wanted to be there herself, to drag a knife across Lydia’s face. She wanted to see how Lydia looked, surrounded by those disgusting men, one after another.
After she hung up, Leila could barely contain her excitement. She immediately tried calling Lucinda, but for some reason, the call wouldn’t go through. She frowned. “Did her phone die?” She tried again. Still no answer. She tried two more times but got nothing.
With no other choice, she hesitated, then dialed Paige’s number.
Paige answered right away. “Leila?”
“Paige, I have some great news for you.” Leila’s voice was bubbling over with excitement.
Paige sounded surprised. “What is it, Leila?”
“I had Lydia kidnapped.”
Paige was stunned. “What?”
“She’s always acting like she’s all that, always flirting and trying to steal everyone’s man. I finally taught her a lesson. Want to come with me and see her get what she deserves?”
Paige remembered Leila saying she wanted to get back at Lydia. And, honestly, Paige had always thought Lydia was way too full of herself, always looking down on people. But, no matter how annoying Lydia was, her status was undeniable. The Norwood family always had her back, and she was with Connor too. Paige had told Leila before that this was a bad idea, but Leila wouldn’t listen.
“Leila, are you out of your mind? Lydia’s got a huge reputation now. The Norwoods are protecting her, and Mr. Moore is on her side. You really think kidnapping her is a good idea? You’re just asking for trouble.”

“Paige, she really needs to be taught a lesson. I’m not the only one who can’t stand her. She’s pissed off a lot of people.”
“Leila, have you even thought about the consequences? You’ve completely lost it.”
Paige was furious. She couldn’t believe Leila would risk everything over a grudge. The slap Lydia gave her yesterday had clearly messed with her head.
“Paige, I’m not crazy. I’m going to ruin Lydia. Someone has to put her in her place.”
Paige sighed. “Leila, as your friend,
I’m begging you to think about what you’re doing. Is it really worth it to throw your whole life away över a stupid slap?”
“Paige, I’m going to destroy Lydia, not myself.”
“And what if the Norwoods and Mr. Moore find out it was you?”
Leila felt a jolt of panic, but pushed it aside. “They won’t find out. I’ll be careful. And even if they do, so what? My family is the Fraga family. I’m not scared of Lydia She’s just the Norwoods’ adopted daughter not even blood.”
Paige was quiet for a long moment, then said, “Leila, just forget you called

up. I’m deleting this call from my
phone.”
She hung up.
Afterward, Paige tried calling Lucinda, but still couldn’t get through. Frustrated, she finally gave up.
Meanwhile, Leila was completely unfazed by Paige’s warning. Instead, she started grumbling about how Paige was a terrible friend and a coward.
“If
f you were the one who got slapped yesterday, I bet you wouldn’t say any of that.”
With that, she stood up, still fuming.
“You’re all terrified of Lydia, but I’m not. I’m going to destroy her.”
