Chapter 1120
After what happened yesterday, Lucinda’s authority at home took another serious
hit.
The driver cleared his throat. “Maybe Lydia has other things to do.”
Lucinda tightened her grip on her hands. “But if she doesn’t leave for school now, she’ll be late.”
“Maybe she already told the school she’d be absent,” the driver said.
Lucinda felt her anger spike. Was he really that clueless? That wasn’t what she meant at all. She wanted him to spread the news, not just state the obvious. Useless!
Honestly, Lucinda was dying to follow Lydia and figure out what she was up to. She was convinced Lydia was up to no good. But after almost getting kicked out of the Norwood family yesterday for having Grace tail Lydia, she just couldn’t risk it again.
Grace was still stuck at the police station, so there was no one left to do Lucinda’s dirty work.
So all she could do was watch helplessly as Lydia skipped school for who-knows- what shady business. The frustration was overwhelming.
Lydia knew there was no way Lucinda would dare send anyone after her again, so she just changed her route right out in the open.
Norwood Enterprises was in one of the busiest parts of the city, and it wasn’t far from Connor’s Jefferson Group.
After parking her car, Lydia headed toward the towering glass building. She wore a black mask, only her clear, cool eyes showing. She moved at a calm, steady pace, walking right through the revolving doors.
A crystal chandelier in the lobby scattered light over her perfectly tailored black coat.
“Miss, what can I do for you?” The receptionist, face perfectly made up, looked Lydia over with a hint of suspicion.
Definitely someone she hadn’t seen before.
“I’m looking for your CEO.”
Surprised, the receptionist checked Lydia out again. Young, elegant, great figure. Even with half her face hidden by a mask, she could tell those eyes and brows were seriously gorgeous.
She’s here for Blake? Was it possible he was dating? No way. She’d never even heard a rumor.
“Do you have an appointment?”
Lydia didn’t bother answering. She just glanced over at the elevators.
The receptionist caught her drift. “Sorry, but without an appointment, we can’t let you go up.”
So much for the idea of Blake having a secret girlfriend. This must just be another fan with a crush.
Just then, the elevator doors opened.
Jonas stepped out, looking sharp in a custom silver-gray suit, and walked straight over to Lydia.
“Miss, sorry to keep you waiting.” Jonas was all smiles and enthusiasm, like he was meeting his favorite celebrity.
The receptionist was floored. Jonas was usually just as stone-faced as Blake, but now he was practically glowing.
Did this girl really have a special relationship with Blake?
The receptionist was suddenly really glad she hadn’t said anything out of line. She’d be in so much trouble she had.
Lydia nodded slightly and followed Jonas into the private elevator.
As soon as the doors closed, the lobby exploded with chatter.
“Did you see that? Who is she? Jonas himself came down to meet her!”
“She said she was here for Mr. Norwood. Do you think she’s really his secret girlfriend?”
“Oh no, if he has a girlfriend, what are we going to do?”
When the elevator reached the top floor, Jonas led Lydia respectfully into Blake’s office, setting off another wave of excitement among the staff.
“Miss, Mr. Norwood is still in a meeting. Please make yourself comfortable. He prepared some snacks and little gifts for you hope you like them
