Chapter 53
Maddie.
One year ago.
“What do you even like about me?” he asks me as he plays with the loose strands of my hair. His eyes bore into me and it feels like he is staring into my soul. The question is abrupt and came from nowhere. This moment is a defining factor in our relationship. We have been steady for a month—well by steady I mean, steady fucking. There hasn’t been any progress in our relationship, the fact that he thinks that I am okay with this is the only reason why he hasn’t run away from me.
The slow pace we are going is pissing me off.
I thought at this point he would’ve been mine by now. i have done everything right. Do you know how hard it is to pretend to be so interested in someone when you really didn’t give a shit about the person, I have pretended to like being with him, pretended like he was the most interesting person I had ever met, all because I want what only him can give me right now. It is sickening that he actually believes that I am genuinely interested in him. He is supposed to be a supernatural being and he hasn’t figured that out.
I planned for this to go faster than it is and I know it has something to do with his family. He told me they don’t want him dating anyone, like somehow, they can choose what he does with his life. I might not have the details but eventually he will see me and he will be mine.
“That’s a weird question,” I manage a laugh to lighten the mood.
His expression is serious, his eyes are deep in thought. He wants to know what I think about him. I can’t even think right now, he will see right through me. I can’t let that happen.
“You’re great,” I smile.
He sighs
“Just great?” he sounds disappointed.
“You know I think you’re special, i have always thought you were special.” I blurt out.
Furrowing his brows he asks “What makes me special?”
The answer i have to his question is one I cannot say out loud. I cannot be honest with him because once I do I will lose everything I have worked so hard for “You are the most caring person I have ever met and I just met you. No one has ever made me feel the way you do.”
All needed lies.
i see the look in his eyes, he believes me completely. He is trusting my words even though they are all lies. I don’t know shit about him, I only know that he is great with sex. We haven’t done anything personal for me to know that he is kinds, or caring. I am just saying all that to get him hooked. One night when we got drunk, he told me about his family and how they don’t want him dating, they want him to wait till he finds her. I don’t know what he meant by that but I assumed it was a vampire thing. He said he didn’t believe in soul mates, that he was going to make his own magic. That is where i got the idea from, make him think that this thing between us could get better within time. Make him think that I could end up begin the soulmate he desperately craves.
i know I am the worst person that ever existed but you would understand if you wanted something so bad, you cant blame me for doing this. I need him to want to be with me, I need him to love me enough to want to be with me.
“How would you feel about being my soulmate?” he asks and my heart stops for a millisecond.
it is finally happening, the moment I have been waiting for.
“Soulmate?” I ask like I am oblivious to what he is talking about.
he nods as he plays with strands of my hair “Be mine,” he leans forward until we are just an inch apart. My heart is racing at a ridiculously scary speed. This is all happening too fast. I am at a loss of words, i don’t know how to react. I don’t want to think. i don’t want him to read my mind. I can’t blow this right now.
This is it guys.
Finally.
“Just say yes and leave the rest to me,” he urges. I don’t know what he means but I accept. I one hundred percent accept whatever he is offering.
“Yes.”
He presses his lips to mine softly and I feel satisfied. Finally, finally my mission is almost complete.
After the breakup.
Death.
Death is supposed to be the end of life but mine brought the beginning. I felt the pain. As he snapped my neck, i heard the sound and for a second before my heart stopped, I saw the smile on his face.
This is not the first time he has done this before. He is a natural to this and it should’ve scared me but it only makes this more exciting. All I see is darkness, there is no light, there is no out of body experience for me. Just a moment of darkness and as my eyes open, I don’t see him again. There is a banging in my head, as i try to sit up on the bed. My stomach growls and I clutch it from the pain that suddenly appears. I get up from the bed in search of something. Everything that happened last night suddenly feels like a dream, the sun hitting the windows tells me it is a new day and whoever brought me here is gone. He wouldn’t have just left me…would he?
I am still naked from last night, the funny thing about this is that I thought I was coming here to have sex and now all that has happened in baffling. My dreams are finally coming true. The sound in my stomach grumbles again and i clutch onto it from the intense hunger I am feeling. i need something to quench this hunger. I don’t know how to handle it. the door to the room opens and he walks in.
My knight in shining armor but he is not alone “Oh, you are awake.” he leads the man into the room and I am confused. I don’t even know what is happening but his smile is reassuring. “I am thirsty and hungry,” I whine because all I am feeling is confusing to me.
The smile remains plastered to his face “Have a seat wont you,” he tells the man. i watch as the man obeys him completely. It seems like he doesn’t even have a mind of his own, like he is being controlled. It think this is something vampire related. the excitement kicks in.
He walks over to me by the window and pulls my chin upwards so I can look at him “How are you feeling,” the night I had rushes into my memory and a smile crawls up to my face.
“Hungry,” i repeat. It is instinctual, the urge to eat and I am not craving food.
“I brought you breakfast,” he points to the man who has a lost expression on his face. His eyes are open but it almost seems like he isn’t really looking. He leads me to the chair and I watch him as he pulls him closer “It’ll come easy to you. All you need to do is eat.”
He moves so close to his neck and I watch as his fangs shoot out and pierce into his skin. Blood drips as he sucks it in and the hunger in me intensifies. i can feel something in my body change. I want what he is having and my body can sense it. I watch him until he lets go “Come on, your turn.”
this is the moment I have been waiting for. It is finally happening.
I am finally complete.
My first taste of human blood is exciting. You know how it feels to eat your favorite food, and also have a surplus amount. That is how it felt, as I dived into his flesh and the blood poured into my mouth. i felt like I was in heaven; I felt stronger, happy, on top of the fucking world. i didn’t care that he was in pain, i held him down until the color on his skin whitened, until he stopped moving. That is how intense it was, I wasn’t thinking about anything but satisfying my hunger. i could see the look on mystery man’s face. He liked what he saw, there was satisfaction in his eyes. I drained all the blood from the human and watched him fall to his feet, without an ounce of guilt in me.
i had suddenly become a killer and I liked it more than I have ever liked anything in my life. The fact that I did that to someone so easily, is pleasurable.
I wanted to kill again.
