Okay, having hot water is a blessing. I didn’t think this motel would have hot water. I was already thinking of all the things that are wrong with this place and this shower is helping me come to my sense.
I am being ridiculous and childish.
Beau is trying to do a good thing for me and I know now that I am ruining it all by whining and complaining. I hear the front door to the room open and my heart starts to race in panic again. I told him now to disappear again and he promised not to. running my hands through my hair to wash off the soap, I shout out so that he can hear me through the running water “You still there?’’
It takes a couple of seconds but his voice comes through the door “Yeah, I am not leaving you.’’ he retorts calmly.
Beau has never been patient but he is the most patient I have ever seen him. I would be upset with myself if the roles were reversed. I don’t like the way I am acting but everything I talk myself into not being annoying, my mind just does what it wants and acts up. my emotions are heightened and I guess for the duration of this pregnancy, I am going to be this way. I just don’t want to get to the point, where I will begin to upset him. I don’t want to push him away by being so clingy.
After a couple of more minutes of this needed shower, I walk out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my waist. the first thing I do is look for him but he isn’t in the room. I don’t even focus on anything until I see the rose petals spread all around the floor. it is almost like a trail to the bed. so, I walk over to it in confusion. This is the surprise, whatever he has planned. This is the thing that has made me act a fool all day.
I walk over to the bed and there is a black suit covered in a white garment bag. This is the same kind he had on. He wants me to dress up, which means there is more. I am so excited for the unknown. I said I hated surprises and now I don’t think that is true. I like surprises. I like not knowing. Right now, he has something planned and I am giddy for it.
There is a stack of sticky notes next to the suit, so that is the thing I pick up. I can just picture the goofy smile on my face right now. I am still in my towel; he is not here but I have never been happier. I know that I am going o have to look for him. I can’t wait to find him—wherever he is and be in his arms and kiss him. thank him for just the thought. It is not easy to please someone—especially with how annoying I have been and he is trying.
He is my everything. I read the first note and my smile widens brightly.
Read each note after a task is complete. I need you to get dressed. Look as beautiful as you can. P.S. you are always beautiful.
I unzip the bag and bring out the suit. Now that I think about it, I messed his up completely. He was dressed when he came to the restaurant and I manipulated him into undressing and being messy.
I ignore all the negative thoughts and focus on his demand. I am doing this with a grain of salt. There is so much excitement bubbling inside me. I have never felt this rush before. Once I am done with the suit, I go into the bathroom and stare at my reflection in the mirror. It has been such a long time since I dressed up—like wearing a suit and dress shoes. I go back into the room and grab the notes again. I rip out the first one and there is another message.
Good. I see you are dressed. Can’t wait to see you. now I want you to walk out the door and follow the roses. Do no peek at the other notes until this is done.
My hands tremble in my grip. this is like the last time when he proposed. He led me to the caves. It seems like he is doing the same thing again. I open the door and sure enough, there is a trail of roses. I don’t know how he got the permission to do this. I mean, this is a public place. he would have had to ask for permission. Ignoring all other thoughts, I walk out of the room, still holding the stack of notes. The rose petals lead me down the stairs and to the reception. It is empty, it doesn’t even seem like there is anyone around. I keep following the roses until I get to the back door. I pull the door open and there are no more roses. I look up and the sky is getting dark. He wants me to come outside.
Okay.
I take two steps until I hit the fresh grass.
Slowly, I rip the note out and there is another message.
Remember when you saved me? You took a path to this motel. I want you to take that path again.
He is talking about the time I got him out of the cave. I wasn’t even thinking that day. All I wanted to do was save him. I wanted him to be okay, so I didn’t even think about where I was going. There is a little inscription on the button of the note, telling me to go to the next note. So, I do that.
It is a straight path. Just keep going and remember don’t cower away from me.
As I start on the path he demanded, the smile remains on my face. I don’t know what I am walking to but I am so excited to be going on this adventure with him.
