The music from outside is loud and even though I am sure that the twins are asleep, I am also worried that they would wake up from all the ruckus.
“Stop fidgeting and let me hold you,’’ Beau shifts closer to me and I welcome him with my arms around him.
He breathes into me in satisfaction “They won’t wake up, they are tired from today,’’ he assures me.
I sigh “Yeah but they are light sleepers. Should we just go stop this party?’’ I ask him.
“Nah, let them have their fun. It won’t last till the morning,’’ he assures me again because this is not the first time that this is happening. So, we are used to this. we are the ones that started the party celebrations. There was no one that wasn’t invited.
Christmas, thanksgiving, all holidays and we have it as a pack.
No segregation.
This is their way of being together and I don’t have a problem with it.
“When did we become those people that sleep at 10?’’ I ask him calmly. I remember Beau from high school, all those years back. I remember that he was known for partying but now he is cooped up in my arms and ready for bed.
He pulls away from me slightly and there is a smile on his face. “I like going to bed early with you next to me,’’ he leans forward again and his lips press to the crook of my neck. I close my eyes as I feel him completely engulf me and my chest constricts.
“We are old,’’ I cry.
He laughs.
“Oh, but we are the opposite of old. You haven’t aged a day since I met you, so how can you even say you are old?’’
Now he is looking at me but that smile is still on his face.
We should be out there partying with Darrien and the rest,’’ I retort.
His laugh gets louder. The room is dark, the moon is the only light that I need to see him and it is bright enough. His eyes are shining, he is so happy and the energy is transferring to me.
I like that I make him happy. I like that he is content with his life and I am too. Very content.
I just need to make sure that he doesn’t feel like he is missing out on his youth. I have lived a very long life on this earth. Beau is just starting his life out and I want him to live it.
I want him to enjoy his youth.
“Do you really want to be out there right now? you know that Darrien is probably already drunk and groping Jabi in front of everyone.’’
I laugh because that is so apt.
“Yeah, he is,’’ I close my eyes for a second, once I open them, he is watching me but there is a serious expression on his face.
“I love you and this beautiful life that we are living. I love going to bed at ten, I love waking up in the middle of the night to feed the twins. I love the drools, the tears, I even love that my kids drink blood. I love everything that you have given me.”
His words are doing something to me and I can’t explain it. there is so much honesty in his voice, so much joy.
He is being sincere right now and it is probably because he can feel my insecurities clouding us.
The worry.
I am in a perfect relationship with the man I love but that doesn’t mean it is always rosy. There are days when we fight, when we argue. Days when I start to have doubts about things. Days when I panic that he would get tired of me and this life that I have pushed down his throat.
I worry about Beau from the moment he wakes up to the moment he closes his eyes in bed.
I worry about our kids.
I worry that they will hurt when they finally find their wolves. It is bound to happen and I know the first time will be painful.
I worry every day but at the end of my worrying, he is there. Oh, he is there and his reassurance completely tramples my worry.
“I love you too,’’ I manage because I don’t have any words to surpass his. he has said it all and just enough to quench my fears.
“You wanna know why I used to party all the time. you want to know why you would see me with a different girl in high school, why I was never alone?’’
It is almost like he keeps reading my mind. I know our relationship transcends beyond our physical bodies. Our minds are connected together and that is why he knows what I am thinking about.
“Why?’’
He smiles “I was desperate to find you and I knew the only way I could, was to go out. The only way I could find you were to go to parties, to be everywhere. Now that I have you, I don’t have any reasons to go out. I don’t have any more reasons to stay out late. What am I looking for outside when my everything is right here,’’ he pulls me closer again and this time I hold him tightly?
Beau knows the right things to say.
He knows how to make me feel better.
He knows me so well.
I hear their footsteps before they even come to the room but I wait for them to come in into the room. We always leave the door open, in case they wake up at night.
I look up from my embrace as I see them. holding hands with sleepy eyes.
“Papa,’’ Colm speaks up, his voice is low but I hear him closely. I stretch out my hands as they both climb onto the bed. Colin hurries into Beau’s embrace while I hold my other baby.
“What’s wrong baby?’’ I ask him as he holds me tighter.
“Can we sleep here?’’’ he asks me calmly.
The bed is big enough, so we put them in between us. my eyes remain fixed to Beau as he watches me.
I love you through it all.
He sends me a mind link and it all feels better.
