Blue
Going back to that place that was once my prison. The place that haunted and tormented me.
That is the struggle I need to face but I am not alone. They are with me and they feel the same way. the break at the hotel was perfect. Everything I needed and it will remain that way in my memory.
“We can do this. fix things here and leave.” I tell them as we drive into the estate. Things already feel different. I know it has just been two days but there seems to be something in the air.
Her death brought a change in this place.
Change that I don’t even want to be present for. Major wants me here. Once this is all sorted out but all I want to do is leave. leave this god forsaken place and put it all behind me.
“Do you think this is going to work. What if this makes things worse?’’
Rex is scared.
For a second, at the hotel. We forgot about it all and now this is a reminder, that there is a possibility of things going south. He doesn’t want to think about it, or worry but that is the kind of person that he is. He worries, he panics, he thinks about worst case scenarios but I know that this will work because I know that this is the end of the bad days.
I don’t know how I know but there is just a part of me that feels that way. Maybe this is all in my head but it makes me feel stronger, like I can take on the world and that is exactly how I want to feel.
“Are we finalizing on this. is this what we are going to do?’’ Gyles asks calmly. Right now, he doesn’t sound as scared as Rex but there is still fear etched deep within.
I don’t have any fear anymore because I know this will end it all. I have never really had confidence in what I do. My magic is weak, I am not a strong enough wolf. I feel like being a mixed breed just makes me doubt myself a lot. I never really had people that supported me, or made me feel like I was worth anything.
Now I have a father, one that I didn’t even know existed up until last year. I have two amazing partners, that give me the strength to keep going. They are amazing and I need to match up to them. I need to be there for them the same way that they have.
“Major has cleared up the rooms. There was a burning ritual done last night for all the remains of the people that were killed. That is one of the only ways that their souls can actually fully rest when we set them free.”
I tell them because when he told me yesterday. I didn’t want to bother them. I wanted that escape from the outside world. I wanted them to remain in that bubble for the weekend and it worked.
They look a lot more relaxed than they did when we left the coven.
“Oh, that’s good. Right?’’ Rex stutters incoherently.
“Yeah, I don’t want you both to come into the room with us. I will handle it on my own with Major.’’
“You need us though,’’ Gyles points out, shaking his head.
“I need you guys in my room. I want you to pack our things. We should leave before the day ends.’’
Maybe this is overconfidence. I mean, It is not set that things will be sorted but I am being optimistic. If anyone is going to be tied to another book of evil. It has to be me. I will not let Gyles and Rex suffer any longer.
“We can pack after.’’
I frown, I have to keep the stern expression on my face because that is the only way that they will listen to me, even though they don’t want to
“Trust me on this, I will handle this with Major,’’ I assure them.
Rex raises a brow and I can see that he wants to argue “You don’t want us there.’’ Gyles pipes up, he is frowning too.
“Trust me, I want to handle it on my own. can you let me do that?’’ I ask them both and the desperation in my eyes bore into them. I park the car in front of the house and turn to them fully. My eyes move from each of them slowly “Can you let me save us once?’’
I feel weak, pathetic and not worthy of them and I need to be. I need to protect them for once in my life. I want them to sit back and let me take care of them.
Rex is the first to give in and his sigh brings about a defeated expression unto Gyles. Even though they don’t look too happy about my decision. They give in.
“Fine.”
I smile and reach for Gyles. He needed the most convincing buy I am glad. I don’t know if this is a mistake but I am so sure that things will work out this time. I am so sure that the answers to solving the mystery of the book is this. I am so sure that we can leave tonight because the longer I stay here, the more my mind will run.
I see Major at the end of the street as he walks over to the house. we all get down from the car and I grab both their hands in mine “Wait for me in my room,’’ I smile at them.
Things are different this time.
I am so sure of it.
They walk away from me with my promises, the promise of a better future. The one that I will give them.
We are going to have it all.
The happy ending that seemed so impossible is almost at our reach and it is all up to me.
I will give them the world and more.
