“Come on,’’ I urge as I grab the last of Blue’s bags.
I turn to the room and it is empty. Completely cleaned out, unlike the last time we left this place.
Do you know how a place looks like when you move out? that is how Blue’s room looks right now and it is making me feel emotional. I know what this means for him and I can’t help but feel the pain that he is feeling.
This is his goodbye.
He is leaving the past behind and this time, it is for good.
I asked him how he felt about this and he said it was for the best. I can’t imagine leaving the community behind. So, no matter how much he might have hated this place, this will break him.
I know that much.
“Do you have the last of his stuff?’’ Gyles asks me as he walks into the room. Blue is inside the closet. I don’t know what he is doing inside but he has been in there for a while.
“Yeah,” I answer as he walks over to me and grabs the bag from me.
“Do you want to check on him?’’ he asks me as he collects the bag from me. Our hands’ touch and I feel the butterflies attack me. just a touch and I can feel it all.
Love is amazing.
“Yeah, I should.’’
Gyles leans forward and plants a soft kiss on my temple. I close my eyes as I let it seep through me. this kiss of encouragement. This kiss means as much to me as a kiss on the lips.
I watch him as he leaves the room and I go into the closet. It is dark but I can see him. His back is to the door and it looks like he is focused on something that I can’t see. Slowly, I walk over to him until I am just an inch away from him. he doesn’t budge, he doesn’t move but I know that he knows I am here.
“I can’t believe this is it,’’ he manages.
I look at his hand and he is holding a box. It is open but I can’t see what it contains. He reaches for something inside the box and I see the picture. Him and his mother. He is just a baby, but somehow, I know it is him instantly.
“You would think she loved me from the way she is looking at me. you would think things were different.’’
A picture can tell a thousand stories. It is open to interpretation. To him, it looks like a normal mother and son picture but I can see it clearer. Analise is not even looking at him. she has this precious gem in her arms and she is more focused on the camera. Her newborn baby and all she can focus on is looking good for the camera. This woman will always be selfish, no matter the kind of person he is.
She never loved him but I don’t need to tell him that—he already knows.
“Do you think she would have loved me if I wasn’t a Lycan?’’ he asks and this confuses me.
She wasn’t the way she was to him because of the type of blood flowing through his veins.
She was just a monster.
“Forget it, it is over now,’’ he drops the picture back into the box and closes it immediately. He is brushing this away even though he wants an answer to his question.
I don’t need to tell him because he already knows but if this is something that he needs validation on, I will give it to him. I grab his hands abruptly and he looks up at me. Tears are welling up in his eyes.
Shit.
“Your mother was not capable of love. You need to let that sink in. no matter what you were, she wouldn’t have seen the greatness that you carried. She was blind to it and a lot of things.”
I reach for him and wipe the tears as they fall.
I hold him because he needs me. I am not the one that can convince him, he knows the truth already. I just need to push him to see things clearly.
“Why do you think you have two mates?’’ I ask him.
He shrugs.
“You have a whole lot of love inside you. you are worthy of so much love that the goddess knew that one mate wasn’t enough for you. think about that when you have doubts.”
His eyes bore into mine and I see him for who he really is which is a caring and loveable person. I will always love him, Gyles will always love him and even though he has lost a lot of love, he will never be alone. I lean forward and my lips touch his slightly. This is a kiss of assurance, a kiss of a promise for a beautiful future.
He closes his eyes and a drop of tear falls to my face as I deepen the kiss. My hands are shaking, I can’t contain all this love I feel for him. I want to scream it to the world. I want to always assure him whenever he is feeling down.
After a couple of minutes, he pulls away from the kiss and rests his forehead on mine. I close my eyes because I want to enjoy this moment.
“I love you,’’ I mouth quietly. He doesn’t even need to hear it right now because he can already feel it.
I hear Gyles’s footsteps before he peeps into the closet.
“The bags are in the car,’’ he informs us with a smile on his beautiful face.
I smile and stretch my hand out to him. he walks over to us and Blue pulls him into our hold. Our bodies press together and all I feel is perfection. Without one of us, we are not complete.
Some might say that we are three too much but all I see is a perfect match.
We are three just right.
