Alby smiles at me, he is the most excited about this ritual. Almost like he knows what is to come with this. It is ten o’clock in the night, two hours to go and I am freaking the fuck out.
’’There is nothing to it. you seem very tense,’’ Alby points out. Darrien chuckles and I can’t help but think he is a little too relaxed. I have been thinking of everything that we would need to do once this happens. Thinking of all the things I would have to do; everyone keeps saying my inner wolf would know what to do. That I would just be passing on the baton to him.
We are to spend the night in the wally cave.
’’I am fine. I just need a reminder of how this will work.’’
With the smile still on his face, he places his hand on my shoulder reassuringly ’’You don’t have to worry about anything. Nature will take its course. Just be with your mate.’’

Alanis is with Eligio and Bells. They are discussing guard duties since both of us and Darrien won’t be available all night. We can’t have Cassius sneaking in on us.

It is exciting that I will finally be able to have sex with him. I want to so badly and I can’t wait. Unlike me and Alanis. Darrien and Jabi have it easy—or maybe I should say they are more certain than us. there are no controversies surrounding them.
I leave Alby and Jules after everything is discussed and go back to my room. I hear the water running in the bathroom, so I walk into it ’’Baby,’’ I shout because of the noise from the water.
He slides the curtain and I see him covered in soap. ’’I just want to get clean for you,’’ he winks with a smile.
I roll my eyes because I have never seen anyone more excited about anything. he seems to be accepting everything a lot more than I am. I am not having doubts. Fuck, there are no doubts in my mind, but I just want everything to go smoothly.
’’Do you want to join me?’’ he asks with that twinkle in his eyes.
I take off my clothes hurriedly because any chance I can get to be intimate with him is an opportunity that I can’t pass on. He chuckles as I get into the shower with him. his arms engulf me completely as I press my lips to his, completely ignoring all the soap on him.
’’In just a couple of hours, I will have all of you,’’ he echoes as the water seeps through us.
I rest my head on his shoulder, fully wet now. ’’There is no going back,’’ I say it in like a way to test the waters. See if he is still one hundred percent on board.
He pulls back in a way so I can see him ’’Why would I want to go back?’’
I shrug as he wipes the water off my face. ’’You are stuck with me. whichever way you get it. I need you to get that into your stubborn head,’’ he flicks my forehead and I grab his hand in mine not even upset that he did that. there is a smile on my face as I pull him into me again.

The caves are big enough to occupy both couples. It is weird that I am doing this with Darrien and Jabi. I never imagined things going this way. Before all that has happened. When I used to talk about the mating ritual with bells. I always imagined things differently.
I always thought I would end up with a human. There was always the chance of my mate already being a wolf, but I thought that would’ve been too easy. I always imagined a perky beautiful girl. With blond hair and blue eyes. I imagined how I would convince her. If she would accept me instantly or if it would be a battle to get her on board. I thought about how I would mark her, her reaction.
I thought it all out, but life has a way of throwing curveballs. Giving you the unexpected—yeah, most times they are usually for the worse, but this is the opposite. I didn’t get the girl; I didn’t get the normal wolf. I got a man, a very beautiful man who is also a vampire. He has done so much for me; he has been there for me through everything. through all my pain, he has saved me, and I don’t even think he realises how much of an impact he has made in my life.
If I was given a second chance.
If I could choose who I got to spend the rest of my life with, in a heartbeat, I would choose him over and over again. No one, and I mean, no one can come close to him.
However this night goes, I will cherish it until the day I die.
’’So, this is easy. There is nothing to it,’’ Jules addresses us smiling.
Darrien coughs nervously, I can see him fidgeting all the way from here ’’What do I have to do?’’ he asks because this is different for him.
I wouldn’t say I am in control of my relationship, but I can take charge. Omegas can’t take charge. I don’t know how this will work with Jabi because it was always supposed to be him finding an Alpha or a beta.
’’I want to do this my way. The vampire way.’’
Jules nods ’’There are no rules to this. There is no one way or the other. The minute it is time, you will know. Just take control when the time comes.’’
Alanis grabs my hand in his and squeezes it softly. I manage a faint smile because this is the moment we have been waiting for. we are in front of the cave. Bell and Rex are here too. For moral support, not like I even need it. I have the only support system I need.
’’It’s almost time, don’t do anything until you feel it,’’ Jules warns us.
I want to ask him what we are supposed to be feeling but I don’t want to seem too inquisitive. I have to at least act like I know what I am doing here.
’’Good luck guys,’’ Bells calls out.
I turn around to face her and she gives me a smile of encouragement. they all leave us and I glance and Darrien, who has Jabi in his arms. At this point, it is every couple for themselves. ’’You know this seems a little bit savagery,’’ Darrien points out.
I don’t argue with him because he is right, but it is just who we are. We are animals, no matter how much we try to sugar coat it. At the end of the day, we do things this way.
’’Come on baby,’’ Darrien leads Jabi into the caves.
As usual, he is always so confident. This guy just found out that Jabi was his mate and he has already gone farther than I have with Alanis and I have known for a while.
’’You’re overthinking again.’’
I look at Alanis and he is watching me with this powerful stare. I shake my head ’’No, just jealous of how confident Darrien is.’’
He laughs ’’The same Darrien I know?’’
I nod.
’’That’s not confidence. He is just a narcissist.’’
’’Well not anymore, he has Jabi now. That has somehow changed him,’’ I point out.
’’True, but now the world revolves around only him and Jabi.’’
I chuckle at the fact that we can still make jokes in a defining moment of our lives.
’’Are you ready for this?’’ he asks me.
I grab his hand in mine and we walk into the dark cave, the night sky looming over us. This is it; this is the moment I have thought about all my life. this is me finally letting go of all my worries and sharing it with another person.
’’It’s so dark,’’ he mutters.
We walk until we get to a part of the cave that looks okay enough for us to settle for the night. I look up and there is an overhead above us which gives us a view of the sky. This is perfect.
’’Come on… sit,’’ I urge him.
We sit down next to each other and he rests his head on my shoulder ’’Are you cold?’’ he asks me. I am dressed in my regular shorts with no shirt.
’’I am fine,’’ I assure him. We don’t get cold, but I don’t tell him that because I like the fact that he is worried. Him being worried means he cares.
I rest my back on the cold wall of the caves and look up at the sky. ’’Are you scared?’’ I ask him.
’’I am too excited to be scared.’’
