How did things get so fucked up in such a short period of time? I blame myself because I should have just let him go when things were so good. Sometimes, I forget that Beau still has that anger inside him. The one he has learned to control. I mean, I get why he would react like that. Belis did shove me.
He didn’t want to hurt me but I pissed him off with my statement. Yeah, I didn’t mean to aggravate him but I wanted him to talk to me. I needed to know what is bothering him at the end of it all, he just got upset and hurt.
Beau is in a corner in the room as I lift Belis up to see the damage. There are bite marks all over him but the closer I look, the more they are healing. He will be fine and even though Beau knocked him out of consciousness, he will wake up and be as good as he was when he came.
“What happened?’’ Drusilla walks into the room and I turn to her and notice that her eyes are wide in shock but I also notice that she doesn’t run up to him like I would if I see Beau hurt. Suddenly, I can tell that whatever is getting him in this mood must have to do with her. this is the first time I have heard her say anything today.
I lift Belis up and Beau runs over to me. he has a guilty expression on his face “Let me carry him,’’ he offers but I shake my head immediately. He has already done enough damage to my brother tonight.
“Just go for now,’’ I tell him with Belis in my arms.
“I don’t want anything that would hurt the babies,’’ he cries and I see it again. the weakness in his eyes. The worry for our cubs. I guess this is all he cares about.
“I got it,’’ Darrien walks up to us when he notices that I am not going to give in to Beau. I hand Belis over to him and we walk to one of the empty rooms together while beau stays behind. I am upset with him and he knows. I thought we had reached a point in our relationship where we didn’t have to worry about his anger. It has been so long and now he decides to bring the side of him that I hate so much. The part of him that he promised to keep in check. The fact that he used that anger on my family hurts even more.
“Well, this isn’t a Dravon dinner without someone getting hurt,’’ Darrien jokes as he puts him on the bed.
He does have a point, but for the first time in my life, I wanted things to be different. I wanted things to go well.
“This is not a big deal. Don’t get upset with Beau,’’ Darrien tries to comfort me but it is already too late. I am already upset with him.
“He almost killed him,’’ I exclaim still in shock.
He rolls his eyes “He wasn’t going to kill him. Belis started it and you know it.”
I sigh and then run my hands through my hair in frustration. “what happened that led to you guys fighting?’’ he adds in question.
“I just wanted to know why he was acting like a jerk. I didn’t mean to call him out on it so bluntly.’’
“Belis has always been a jerk and you know it.’’
I shake my head “YOU were the jerk. Belis was a good brother. Even though I wasn’t as close to him as Eligio, we still had a good relationship. He helped me a lot.’’
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Keep calling me the jerk. At least I am here.’’
I smile because Darrien has come a long way. in fact, he is the closest to me now. maybe it is because of the fact that we have a lot in common now. I have Beau and he has Jabi. We have too many similarities.
“I think there is something going on with him and Drusilla.’’
“Yeah, she was a lot quieter today.’’
The door opens and I see her as she peers her head into the room. “You can come in,’’ she obliges by walking in. Clutching her purse tightly.
“I’ll be outside,’’ Darrien walks out of the room. Leaving me and her alone. She looks sad and this is something I should have noticed when they all came here. Something is definitely up between them and I want to find out.
“What is going on Dru?” I ask her worriedly.
She sighs and I see the tears as they well up in her eyes. This is even worse than I thought which has me panicking. Drusilla is still a sister to me, so whatever is bothering her still affects me like it would Eligio and Darrien.
“I don’t know,’’ she covers her face with her hands crying.
I reach for her and she doesn’t push me away “You can talk to me. tell me what is wrong.” I push her because this is the only way she will talk to me.
My hand rests on her shoulder as she cries next to her link on the bed. it almost seems like whatever is making her sad has to do with him and he is the only one that can make it right.
“He is rejecting me,’’ she breathes out finally. At first, I don’t understand what she is talking about but after a couple of seconds, it registers. Belis and Drusilla have been together for the longest. He can’t be rejecting her. he loves her.
“He hasn’t said anything to me but I feel him slipping away. I have tried to make things as they used to but no matter what I do, he just pushes me away.’’
My heart aches at her words because I don’t know how I will feel if Beau ever rejected me. I love him too much.
Belis must have a reason for this.
It just doesn’t make any sense.
