Chapter 498

I wait for him, still in the same position I was when he left the room. I wait for him because my mind is made up. I don’t want Darrien to come here and have to fight my own battles. I want him to come and see that I have fixed everything.
I want Lenny to know that I am not just a hybrid. I am a strong wolf and a strong vampire.
He opens the door with the same tray they have been using to bring me food “I brought food,’’ he smiles and drops it on the tray.
I watch him as he walks over to the bed and drops it by the table. He sits down next to me and his eyes never leave me.
“Dig in, I am hungry too.’’ He takes a fork and bends over to pick up a piece of meat. I reach for it and take it. I tentatively tear a chunk off and place it in my mouth. It is raw and I chew it over and over, the juices tasting strangely sour.
Lenny watches me carefully, his eyes falling over every small change in my face. “You like it?’’ he asks me still smiling.
I nod, as i take a bigger bite this time. I can already feel the effects of the food. I feel better, stronger. I just need to get stronger.
“Good, I am glad.’’ I swallow. “You said you were hungry. I am glad you are actually eating willingly now.’’
i finish the meat and lick my fingers as I reach for the blood. My hand shaking as i grab the bottle in my grip. I take a small lick of it and notice my fangs poking through, sharp and uncomfortable. I close my hand around the bottle and then take a small drink. I feel these effects, too. They are stronger than before. I feel the power of the blood coursing through my body. Lenny leans forward on the table. He drops his voice to a whisper now. “How do you feel?’’
I look up to him as he waits for my response “I feel fine,’’ I manage, just as low as he asked.
He smiles “You have to believe me when I say, I will never hurt you. Once you come to terms with this, you will be happy.’’
He is trying to convince me to accept this but I have already made up my mind. I know what I want, and I am going to get what I want.
“Why do you need my blood? You haven’t told me?’’ I ask him.
His smile widens “You are special, one of a kind. I have never met anyone like you.’’
I nod “Because I am a hybrid?’’
He nods.
“Yes, because your blood is special to me, just like you are. I only need to keep drinking from you. I am not going to drain you out. I promise.’’ I nod again as my fangs ache in protest. I feel sick like my body is fighting me to kill him.
“What does my blood do to you, why do you need it so badly?’’ I find my voice falter.
He is quiet for a moment “I feel invincible,’’ he says. His eyes stare at me as he watches me carefully.
I look over to the tray, tired of the game that he is playing. I drop my eyes to my hands. My hands are sweaty as I wipe them on my pants “Is that why you didn’t die when Darrien killed you?’’ I ask him.
He smiles “Yes.”
The fact that he is answering all my numerous questions just makes this even better. “No one can hurt me as long as i have your blood running through my veins.”
I smile because he thinks he is invincible but i am the one that is invincible, i am the one that has the blood inside me. I am the one that he can’t hurt.
“How long does it last before it wears out?’’
He raises a brow and for a second, i see a flicker of suspicion in his eyes “How long does what wear out?’’
“Your blood?’’
I nod.
He chuckles “Are you planning on trying to kill me? i would tell you to give up because you won’t be able to.” he smiles.
“I just want to know. It’s my blood, don’t I deserve to know the power it holds?’’ i ask him.
He smiles and leans back “Of course, you deserve to know the power it holds.’’
I smile because he is answering my questions. I don’t need to worry about him being suspicious anymore.
“It’s different from one vampire to another. I am finding that it depends on your own body. But, if you want to know the power that your blood gives me, let me have a taste and i will show you.’’
He didn’t answer my question but I don’t have time anymore as he leans closer, trying to have me again. I close my eyes for a second because I can’t let him have me again. I see it in his eyes, he has run out of the fuel that my blood gives him.
That is why he was hesitant.
This is the best time to do this.
There is no turning back. His hands grab me by my neck as I open my eyes. His touch is electrocuting. I have never been more disgusted in my life. “I told you, I will never hurt you.” His voice is cold and rough.
As he leans in, I feel my throat closing as his fangs come out but unlike all the other times he has tried this, I get ready for my own attack, as my canines come out. He is taken completely by surprise as my fangs pierce his neck.
Blood sprays out in all directions as I bite into the flesh and pull it out of him. I bite again, sucking the blood out of him. As he starts to scream, I can still feel his blood running down my throat like a fountain.
It is amazing how much I can still feel with my fangs in his neck.
I want more.
