Chapter 38
Chapter 38:
The man, clearly inebriated, was unaware that someone had entered his room.
Ellie, behind Kaiden, couldn’t help but let out a muffled chuckle, clearly amused by the turn of events.
“Huh? Demi, you were looking for me?” she asked, feigning innocence as she pushed Kaiden’s wheelchair forward, revealing them to the gathering crowd.
Demi’s face contorted in shock. She had locked Ellie in the room. How did Ellie get out? And where was the effect of the drug she had used?
As Demi pondered this, she began to feel unusually warm, attributing it to her mounting frustration.
“Ellie isn’t in there. She’s with Kaiden?” someone in the crowd whispered.
“Can someone explain what’s going on?” Ellie asked, maintaining her composure.
Genesis’s gaze bore into Ellie. “Demi saw you enter that man’s room. Such behavior is unacceptable in our family. We had to investigate!” The accusation of infidelity was almost explicit, aiming to disgrace both Ellie and Kaiden.
“So, what did your investigation reveal?” Ellie asked, her voice steady. “Why weren’t you in the room as Miss Gordon claimed?” Talon inquired, his eyes searching Ellie’s face for any telltale signs.
Ellie shot back, “I’m curious myself. Why would Demi say I was in that room p>

The words stirred something in him, a feeling he had never experienced before. “About ten minutes ago, a maid brought clothes for Ellie,” Kaiden interjected, effectively ending the debate.
This detail, backed by a witness, confirmed Ellie’s presence in their room earlier.
Whispers spread among the onlookers. “Why did she need clothes so late at night p>
Had they gotten too excited and run out of clothes to wear? Erick’s frustration simmered.
Ellie’s apparent closeness to Kaiden, especially so soon after their marriage, felt like a direct affront to him, her former fiancé.
Unaware of the misconceptions swirling around her, Ellie calmly faced Demi. “Miss Gordon, I’ve been with my husband in our room, and the maid can vouch for that. You claim I should be here, though. So, who’s mistaken? My husband and the maid, or your eyesight? Huh p>
Demi hesitated, unable to bring herself to claim that Kaiden had conspired with the maid to deceive them. However, it was clear: she had locked Ellie in that room.
Her thoughts spiraled in confusion. A fiery sensation surged within her, her breath becoming shallow and rapid, as a strange, inexplicable urge to disrobe washed over her.
