Chapter 223
Chapter 223:
Ellie thought about it for a moment. What she wanted was very simple, really. “If I ask you to respect our marriage and never cheat on me p>
Before she could finish, she found Kaiden thrusting into her, a moan escaping her lips as she couldn’t bear the sudden, violent movement in the bed. She knew he had done it on purpose to punish her.
Kaiden burst out into humorless laughter.
What kind of condition was that?
Wasn’t that a given in any committed relationship?
“Can’t you come up with something more… sensible?” he asked sarcastically.
“Let’s just go with this one for now p>
“All right,” Kaiden conceded with an exasperated sigh to himself.
Ellie paused, blinking at him. He wasn’t going to protest?
While it was true she was asking for the bare minimum, she knew all too well that it wasn’t as simple as it sounded, especially with temptations constantly lurking around.
As far as Ellie knew, the adulterous lifestyle was common among the rich and powerful. The stories she’d heard were all the same—a certain young master would retire to his hotel for the night, and his paramour of the week would already be waiting in his room. The frown on her brow slowly faded, and even her disgust at Kaiden’s forced kiss from earlier disappeared, replaced by a strange sense of satisfaction.
“It’s a deal then. You can’t go back on your word.” After a moment of thought, she added, “If you find someone you like, feel free to tell me about it. We can work it out from there. Just don’t ever lie to me or betray me p>
Ellie chose her words carefully, making sure to use “like” instead of “love p>
She wasn’t sure when or how it had happened, but somewhere along the way, she had started to hope that Kaiden might be interested in her.
As for Kaiden, he was already in a foul mood when the conversation began, and Ellie’s words only upset him further. Here she was, lying on his bed, talking about him liking another woman. Was she expecting to fall for another man herself?

Kaiden nipped at her ear, his voice laced with danger as he said, “You had this coming p>
Ellie barely had time to pull away in confusion before he was on top of her, taking control in a way that left her no time to process what he was implying.
It was all too much for her to bear.
Needless to say, Ellie was sore when she woke up the next morning, her skin marked with red bruises here and there.
Kaiden had been relentless with her body, as though he wanted to punish her. Ellie rolled over and was about to pull the covers up when she felt a strong, muscular arm wind around her waist. She was then pulled into a possessive embrace. Kaiden buried his face in her hair, his breath brushing lightly against her nape. His chest felt unnaturally hot against her back.
Ellie squirmed in his arms, then noticed the bright light streaming through the curtains. She suddenly snapped to attention and jumped out of bed. “Oh, my God! I’m late p>
