“Marcelo would never listen to you without my permission,” Marvin pointed out nonchalantly.
“Are you doing this on purpose? Your brain is fine, isn’t it?” Baylee turned fully to glare at him, her hands on her waist. “What is it exactly that you want p>
Marvin looked panicked when he heard that, but he was back to his cold self in the next second. As long as he didn’t admit to anything, she would have no proof to back up her suspicions.
Marvin looked her dead in the eye and went straight to the point. “I want to stay by your side. Don’t you know that already p>
It was nearly eleven o’clock. Students from the street dance group exited the student activity center just in time to hear his words. They let out a series of oohs and ahhs and proceeded to tease the “couple p>

For the first time, Marvin didn’t find the youngsters, who were about the same age as his cousins, annoying. The atmosphere turned awkward as the students mischievously jeered at them.
Helpless to the situation, Baylee grabbed Marvin by the wrist and led him away from there. Marvin’s gaze fell on her delicate fingers wrapped around his wrist. With one deft movement, he flicked his hand, slipping it from her hold, and intertwined their fingers together.

Baylee didn’t even notice; she was too focused on escaping their raucous audience.
“Baylee, I haven’t eaten yet,” Marvin said, playing the pity card yet again.
“Then go home and eat. Didn’t Marcelo hire a five-star chef for you? He lives right next door to your place, doesn’t he?” Baylee didn’t fall for his act.
“Baylee,” Marvin began, his tone turning serious, his expression a little pensive. “Are you angry at me for kissing you? Is that why you’re so hostile to me now p>
“I’m not…” Baylee drifted off, her brows furrowing as she searched for the right words to say.
Whenever Marvin acted like this, Baylee felt like a bully who was unnecessarily hurting the feelings of someone experiencing cognitive difficulties.
