“Get this out of here!” Houston hissed.

With a look of revulsion, he flung his hand away.

A loud thud reverberated through the room.

Then a cloud of white ash filled the air, obscuring vision. The urn hit the floor, ashes scattering like white snow.

Khaleesi was coated in ash, her hair, face, and clothing speckled.

Frozen for a few seconds, her scream then pierced the silence. Her face turned ashen, her body quaking, too terrified to move.

“Khaleesi!” Houston was at her side in an instant, hands hovering over her belly. “Are you alright? Should we go to the hospital?”

Demi crouched, gathering the ashes back into the urn, a glint of satisfaction in her eyes.

Yet her smile vanished abruptly.

“Why bring up the Lamberts?” she inquired of Houston.

Houston snorted, “Ellie is the lost daughter of the Lambert family!” Demi’s grip faltered, and the urn crashed to the floor once more.

The Maybach stopped.

As soon as Ellie opened the door, she was swept up in a firm embrace.

The intensity of Kaiden’s hold brought a twinge of pain.

“Kaiden?” Ellie’s voice held a tinge of bewilderment as she gently tapped his shoulder.

Without loosening his grip, Kaiden planted a kiss on her neck.

“What’s up?” Ellie inquired with a hint of worry.

Releasing her, Kaiden’s voice carried a note of concern. “You didn’t tell me before you left. Why?”

That’s when it dawned on Ellie that he must have caught wind of the airport incident.

“I was seeing Baylee off. A scuffle at the airport won’t throw me; I can handle it,” Ellie assured him. Kaiden’s face remained impassive as he cautioned her, “Remember, Ellie, you’re expecting.”

A moment of silence hung as Ellie processed. She’d indeed forgotten. Since her pregnancy wasn’t showing and morning sickness was absent, she often forgot.

After lifting Ellie from the car, Kaiden announced, “I’m getting you bodyguards once we’re home.”

It felt like an overreaction, but Kaiden’s stern expression kept Ellie’s objections at bay.

Glenn, positioned at the driver’s seat and reaching for Ellie’s purse, furrowed his brows. Did Kaiden forget his presence? He didn’t even greet him!

But recalling that Ellie had acknowledged him as her brother, Glenn’s irritation melted away.

Back at the hotel, Glenn issued a statement on behalf of the Lambert Group. He found a charming picture of Ellie online and shared it, captioning, “Welcome our little princess home!”
