Chapter 194:
Caroline’s fingers remained locked into the nerve cluster on Beatrice’s shoulder. Her grip felt exactly like a hydraulic press clamping down on soft tissue.
Beatrice’s arrogant, furious expression warped into a mask of pure agony. She let out a high, piercing shriek and tried to violently jerk her body backward, but the woman in the cheap hoodie was completely immovable. Caroline’s hand was made of iron.
Caroline’s gray eyes were dead. There was absolutely zero human warmth in them.
She leaned her face closer to Beatrice and lowered her voice, repeating the lethal warning.
“I said, let go of the dog.”
Beatrice stared into Caroline’s eyes. The wealthy socialite’s breath hitched. For the first time in her pampered life, Beatrice saw genuine, unfiltered killing intent. The sheer, apex-predator dominance radiating from Caroline sent a wave of ice-cold sweat straight down Beatrice’s spine.
But Beatrice had been spoiled since birth. Her raw terror quickly mutated into humiliated rage.
“Help!” Beatrice screamed at the top of her lungs, her voice echoing off the metal shelves. “Help me! She’s assaulting me!”
The loud screaming immediately drew a crowd. Shoppers abandoned their carts and rushed over.
Three supermarket security guards in dark blue uniforms heard the commotion. They shoved their way through the gathering crowd, hands resting nervously on their radios as they sprinted down the aisle.

Caroline’s peripheral vision caught the movement. She saw the guards. More importantly, she saw the dozen cell phone cameras suddenly raised in the air, recording every second of the altercation.
The lethal, operative side of her brain instantly slammed the brakes. She had already run this calculation seconds ago — if the police arrived, Code Black would trigger, and Bell’s tactical team would descend on this supermarket. The cover Jarrod had built to protect her would shatter. She had made her choice. Now she had to execute it.
She forced the boiling, violent adrenaline back down into her stomach and slowly, deliberately uncurled her fingers, releasing Beatrice’s shoulder.
Beatrice stumbled backward the moment she was free. She rubbed her bruised collarbone, her chest heaving with panicked breaths. But her mouth refused to stay shut.
Beatrice tightened her grip on the whimpering dog and pointed a shaking finger directly at Caroline’s face.
“Arrest her!” Beatrice shrieked at the approaching security guards. “This piece of trash in the sweatpants is a dog thief! She stole my purebred!”
Under Beatrice’s rough, careless grip, the dog’s body was crushed against the Chanel tweed, the pressure squeezing directly against the fresh surgical wound on its hind leg.
The dog let out another horrific, agonizing whimper.
Caroline completely ignored the security guards. She didn’t answer their questions. Instead, she raised her hand and pointed a steady finger directly at the bright red blood soaking through the dog’s white bandages.
Her voice was cold, clear, and loud enough for every person in the aisle to hear.
