After the two returned to the break room, Amara shut the door with a serious expression. She said, “Lucian, I know you meant well earlier, but please don’t do that again p>
Lucian had been silent ever since, his lips tightly pressed together and his face stern, the thought difficult for her to decipher. Seeing him like this, Amara sighed.
“Lucian,” she said, her tone softening. “Guys like Finnian, they’re in a whole different league from us. If you really piss him off, forget about making it in this industry; doing anything else might be tough too. You get what I’m saying, right p>
After a few moments of silence, Lucian finally spoke up, “Not our kind of people p>
“Hmm?” Amara was momentarily puzzled. “What p>
“Not our kind, my kind,” Lucian clarified, looking at her intently.
“Ama, you’re not like me. You come from a rich family. You’re not any lesser than Finnian. He shouldn’t treat you like that p>
Amara understood instantly, a small smile playing on her lips as she replied, “You know, we’re really not that different p>
Given her situation with the Sullivan family, she wasn’t in a much better position than Lucian, but she chose not to elaborate on that for all the entanglement it emanated. She reminded Lucian to focus on his acting and not to clash with Liliana or Finnian anymore.
Whether Lucian truly listened or not was uncertain, but he didn’t argue. He glanced at Amara before leaving the room.
Amara took a deep sigh, sat for a while, sipped some water, and prepared to head back to the set. But as she stepped out, she found Finnian waiting at the door.
“Amara,” Finnian asked, “you and Lucian seem pretty close p>
There was something off about Finnian’s tone, though it was hard to pinpoint exactly what.
Amara didn’t overthink it and
explained, “Lucian used to be an extra. I noticed his talent and looks while working on another show and recommended him to the director. That’s how we met p>
Her words were tactful, but Finnian understood immediately. It was clear to him that Lucian owed Amara for discovering him, which explained Lucian’s earlier defense of her.
With that realization, Finnian felt oddly relieved. He nodded and responded, “I was just curious, no other reason. I have some matters to attend to; gotta go p>
As Finnian turned to leave, Amara watched his etreating figure, sensing something was amiss. It quickly dawned on her-had Finnian misunderstood something? Did he think the “actor friend” who’d had meals at her home earlier and later visited her again was Lucian?
Amara couldn’t help but chuckle wryly at the thought.
But it wasn’t a big deal, so she didn’t dwell on it. She locked up the break room and headed to the set.
After her pep talk, Lucian seemed to regain his composure and successfully finished filming the scene.
After changing out of her costume, Liliana approached Finnian, who had been waiting for her and asked, “Finn, did you visit Amara in her break room? What did you two talk about p>
“Nothing much,” Finnian replied coolly, clearly not interested in elaborating.
Liliana bit her lip, a wave of unease washing over her. Logically, she knew Finnian wouldn’t be interested in Amara, and she still believed that, but something just didn’t fee right.
