Amara’s words were brutally candid, leaving no room for politeness.

Finnian frowned, ignoring Amara’s protests, and opened the hospital room door, pulling her out into the hallway.
Amara was stunned, not expecting Finnian to physically intervene. Once in the corridor, she grabbed onto the doorframe, refusing to budge.
A vein throbbed at Finnian’s temple, and realizing he had no choice, he hoisted Amara over his shoulder and carried her into the stairwell.
“Calm down. There’s no need to get so worked up,” he said, setting her down with a serious expression.
The stairwell in the hospital was deserted, the quiet so intense you could hear a pin drop. Amara stood by the window, her face flushed with anger, her nails digging into her palms.
The window was open, and a cool breeze drifted in, chilling her to the bone. This gust of wind dissipated the flames of her anger, and she began to calm down.
But as the anger faded, sadness rushed in to take its place, and she covered her face, sobbing quietly.
Finnian felt at a loss. He had never seen Amara cry, and certainly not like this. He felt his fingers twitching, unsure of what to do.
