Her words struck Finnian like a physical blow.

He was sobered by the truth in them-he knew she wasn’t in the wrong-but the pain was still unbearable.

His heart felt like it was being ripped in two. He could barely stand, barely speak.

He’d known for a while that he loved Amara, but he had never realized how deep that love ran. Even after letting her go, the thought of her with another man was more than he could bear.

Finnian knew he had to get out of there before he completely lost control. He turned and walked away, his steps heavy.

Watching his retreating figure, so desolate and heartbroken, Amara clenched her fists, a confusing mix of emotions churning inside her.
